Pierre Campbell reacted on thisPierre Campbell reacted on thisTHE LOVE OF A MAN. My whole life, I’ve known what it feels like to be loved by a man. My father. My uncles. The mentors who showed up when they didn’t have to. They poured into me — and because of them, I never felt like I had to face this world alone. Watching my son Quinn place his cap and gown on his grandfather after graduation stopped me in my tracks. That moment? That’s legacy in motion. Black boys navigate life differently. That’s just the reality we’re born into. But when you have the love and guidance of good men walking beside you, it changes everything. It changes you. Quinn has what I had. And I don’t take that lightly. To every man who ever loved a boy forward — thank you. We see it. We feel it. And we’re passing it on.

Pierre Campbell reacted on thisPierre Campbell reacted on this#proud My son graduated from middle school and he taught a master class in courage and character. After winning the school’s commencement speech competition reviewed and selected by 4 teachers, he was told on graduation day to deliver a rewritten speech by an administrator or not present at all. Instead of backing down, he stood up for his original work . He said it’s not my speech any more if I use the rewritten one. He kept his original speech in his pocket, organized his friends to support him if needed, and chose to stand by his own voice. He delivered his words, with integrity. Leadership isn’t about age it’s about values, conviction, and the courage to stay true to yourself. He showed all of that . I 100% supported his decision and I’m so proud!

Pierre Campbell liked thisPierre Campbell liked thisWhen I was a little boy growing up in Syracuse, NY, I was raised by one of the most incredible human beings on the planet — my mother, Constance Mack. She was my role model, my motivator, and my confidant. One of her greatest qualities was the way she spoke to my brother and me. She never used words to tear us down. She used words to educate us, encourage us, and lift us higher. Now, I was definitely the mouthy one in the family! 😂 (You probably have one in your house right now.) But instead of saying, “Boy, shut your mouth,” she would say: “Boy, one day you’re going to use that mouth to make a difference.” Those words stayed with me. I don’t do what I do because I’m chasing fame or fortune. I do it because a mother spoke life into me before I could even see it for myself. Neither of us knew then that those words would eventually impact millions of lives across thousands of stages, training rooms, and coaching sessions around the world. So here’s my message to every parent out there: Don’t speak based on what you feel in the moment. Speak based on what you see in their future. Your words can shape confidence, purpose, and greatness… or create trauma, insecurity, and defeat. The choice is yours. Choose life. Choose encouragement. Choose vision. Because you truly have no idea who is sitting in your home right now. #Parenting #Leadership #PersonalDevelopment #Motivation #Mindset #Inspiration #Coaching #PositiveParenting #Purpose #SpeakLife City of Syracuse

As the FIRST 50th anniversary class to begin this new commencement tradition, this group's energy was just as bright and golden as the honor itself, and their continued commitment to Cheyney was reflected through a $7,476 donation to help the graduating seniors close out their accounts and pledged more, proving that Cheyney alumni continue to uplift, invest in, and inspire the next generation. #classof1976 #50thanniversary #cheyneyuniversity

BLACK FATHER DAUGHTER LEGAL LEGACY IN MOTION WHEN GENERATIONS BUILD, HISTORY SHIFTS A Black-owned law firm led by a father and daughter being named the Best Law Firm of 2024 is more than recognition — it is documented progress. Congratulations to Zulu Ali and Whitney Ali, Esq. a vision for success through succession. For most of American history, Black attorneys were excluded from major firms, elite legal networks, and judicial influence. In 1950, fewer than 1% of lawyers in the United States were Black. Even today, Black attorneys make up only about 5% of all lawyers nationwide, despite representing a far larger share of the population. The problem has never been talent. It has been access. When a father builds a foundation and a daughter expands it, the narrative changes. Ownership replaces dependency. Strategy replaces limitation. Legacy replaces survival. This achievement represents disciplined preparation, intergenerational transfer of knowledge, and the power of family-led enterprise. It affirms that the courtroom is not reserved for a select few — it belongs to those prepared to master it. Black excellence is not accidental. It is structured. It is studied. It is earned. Supporting Black-owned firms strengthens economic circulation, increases representation in legal advocacy, and builds long-term community stability. History shows that when families control institutions, they control outcomes. The future belongs to those who build it — together. Author: Dr. Ken L. In honor of Black History Month, each weekday we will be featuring an #HBCU and highlighting its top undergraduate academic programs. Today we feature the Documentary Film Program at Spelman College, the nation’s premier HBCU for women, located in Atlanta. Spelman is the first HBCU to offer a bachelor's degree in Documentary Filmmaking. The curriculum emphasizes the intersection of visual storytelling, and the preservation and dissemination of the voices of women of color. The a program takes history – and the role of filmmakers in preserving history – seriously. Spelman’s already impressive program was enhanced by its just-launched partnership with the Georgia Film Academy (GFA). This collaboration provides students with hands-on training in production, post-production workflows, and on-set protocols, leading to an 18-credit-hour certification. Hence, Spelman students and graduates can take full advantage of Atlanta’s leading role in film and television. Students at Spelman can also access the Atlanta University Center (AUC) consortium, cross-registering for film courses at Morehouse College (which focuses on the business side of film and television production) or Clark Atlanta University (known for its first-rate narrative fiction program) to round out their artistic and technical skills. The true strength of the Spelman film program is its distinguished faculty, which includes such acclaimed filmmakers Julie Dash (director of Daughters of the Dust) and Dr. Ayoka Chenzira. Because of their experience as visual storytellers and their commitment to both film and their students, the members of the faculty endeavor to emphasize the "business of the art form." Spelman students can cap off their academic experience with the Digital Moving Image Salon (DMIS). This initiative allows students to participate in a year-long course producing documentaries that focus on the lived experiences of women of color. It culminates in an annual Student Documentary Film Showcase. Are you a woman who wants to harness her voice and her vision to create impactful documentary films? Well, the Documentary Film Program at Spelman College may be the ideal place for you learn the intricacies of visual storytelling. If you are interested in exploring the unique opportunities that Spelman College offers to undergrads, click on the link below. 📣📣 Opportunities like this are worth sharing!! Applications are open for the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business program. It’s an impactful opportunity that offers education, mentorship, and a powerful network (more details below). I hadn’t taken time to look in to this program before and it made me think about #visibility again. We talk a lot about making people visible, but there’s an equal importance to making opportunities visible. Because sometimes the thing standing between someone and their next level is simply knowing the opportunity exists. So in the spirit of sharing opportunity, I’m dropping a few more programs worth exploring below: - Tory Burch Foundation Entrepreneur - digitalundivided - Women Business Collaborative If you know a resource, program, accelerator, grant, or fellowship that helped you please share!! It Is Time to Step Up for HBCUs We are at a pivotal moment. This is a time for us to use our financial resources to support Historically Black Colleges and Universities. These institutions have long been beacons of opportunity, resilience, and community uplift in the United States. Yet today, they face real threats, not only in funding and policy environments, but through hostile acts that disrupt campus life and threaten student safety. HBCUs represent less than 3 percent of all colleges and universities in the United States, yet they award 13 percent of all bachelor’s degrees earned by Black students. That level of impact is extraordinary. Collectively, HBCUs generate 16.5 billion dollars in total economic impact each year and support more than 136,000 jobs nationwide. They are powerful engines of mobility, leadership, and economic growth. Despite this, chronic underfunding continues. Inequities in federal research dollars, gaps in state support, and disparities in private investment limit their ability to expand programs, strengthen infrastructure, and scale their remarkable contributions. And let us be clear. Supporting HBCUs is not only a Black issue. It is a national priority. These institutions produce leaders, innovators, educators, scientists, doctors, judges, and entrepreneurs who shape every sector of our society. You do not have to be an HBCU graduate to stand in support. You simply have to believe in equal opportunity, equitable investment, and the power of education to transform lives. Now is the time to act. Invest. Direct financial resources toward scholarships, institutional giving, and strategic partnerships. Advocate. Encourage policymakers, corporate leaders, and your networks to prioritize equitable funding and protection for these institutions. Engage. Mentor students, recruit talent, and build partnerships with HBCU programs. When HBCUs thrive, our communities thrive. Our economy thrives. Our future thrives. Let us choose to be intentional with our resources and unwavering in our support. Woodson and Associates LLC #SupportHBCUs #EquityInEducation #InvestInImpact #CommunityLeadership #education #HBCU

Time for A Business PIVOT? 👀 Thursday reminded me of something important: our small businesses are not the side story – they are the strategy 💯 I spent Thursday morning at the Pivot Symposium in Richmond, hosted by the City of Richmond’s Office of Minority Business Development in partnership with the Black CEO Roundtable. 🔥🔥 This gathering was built for business owners who are ready to grow beyond government contracting and tap into broader corporate and market opportunities. Is that you 👀👀👀 We talked about: • What “corporate ready” really looks like • How supplier diversity and corporate leaders make decisions • How to use AI, marketing, and systems to stop guessing and start moving with intention 💫 • How to navigate a changing DEI and DBE landscape without losing momentum And we networked a LOT! This recap is a snapshot of that energy – Asking better questions, making stronger connections, and getting the playbook to compete at a higher level 💫 If you’re a small business owner in Virginia and you know it’s time to PIVOT, follow this movement, get in these rooms, and bring your questions with you! 2026 is all about YOU getting into the rooms that can help you root in your purpose ❤️. #ThankYou Tami Long, PhD and Mildred “Milly” Black, MBA, SHRM-SCP Today, I had the honor of speaking at the International Association of Employee Assistance Professionals in Education (AEAPE) Conference about something we can no longer treat as optional — #resilience with #restoration. Our education professionals and employee assistance leaders are carrying extraordinary loads: supporting students, teams, and communities while navigating change, conflict, and compassion fatigue. Leaders talked about the uncertainty in the workplace, managing expectations, and navigating policy, politics, and personalities in the office. But here’s the truth: You cannot pour from an empty emotional tank. One leader spoke about resilience as a "naughty word" and I agree. Why is resilience associated with breaking, adversity, and trauma instead of rest, self-preservation, and prevention of the aforementioned? That’s why my keynote, The Resilience Reset, focused on what it truly takes to rebuild from within: 💠 Empathy Mapping: Seeing beyond behavior to understand emotional context. 💠 Conflict Insight: Transforming tension into teaching moments. 💠 Culture Alchemy™: Turning friction into flow through clarity, connection, and care. 💠 Somatic Leadership: Leading from the body, not just the brain, to create sustainable calm. This isn’t about bouncing back.... It’s about resetting forward and being emotionally sustainable — with systems that support the humans behind the work. To every leader in education and employee assistance: thank you for choosing to lean in and conserve your energy. We closed with a 30-day plan for leaders to leverage the WOW and maintain boundaries, psychological safety, and debriefs with a cadence that works for them and their stakeholders. #TheConflictChick #ResilienceReset #EmotionalSustainability #CultureAlchemy #SomaticLeadership #IAEAPE2025 #EducationLeadership #ConflictResolution #LeadershipDevelopment

I carry an Ivy League education from one of the leading institutions for educational transformation. But this work was never meant to stop with me. Through I Love My HBCU, through mentoring, through access to grants & funding opportunities…we are building something bigger. A pipeline of leaders. Thinkers. Builders. Doers. People who are ready to transform their communities & the world around them. Because education is only powerful when it’s activated. And knowledge means nothing if it’s not shared, multiplied & put to work. This is about legacy. This is about impact. This is about creating access where there once were barriers. You’re not just learning…you’re being equipped to lead. ✨ If you’re ready to step into your role as a World Changer, tap into the trainings on YouTube & start building what you’ve been called to create. Dear HBCU Alumni & Students, Landing employment is easy. But only if you have the right strategy. To attract your next employment opportunity in this economic climate you must develop these 3 things: 1. Your Mindset 2. Your Skillset 3. Your Network Here is a 5 part strategy that will help you leverage all 3 to land employment in less than 4 weeks. 1. Invest in a copy of the following 3 books and read them immediately: • The Magic of Thinking Big • Think & Grow Rich • Collaboration Creates Currency 2. Ask yourself these 3 questions: • What Are My Gifts • What Are My Gaps • What Are My Greatest Results Gift are skills that come easy to you but are difficult for others. Gaps are the challenges or obstacles that prevents you from reaching your goal. Greatest Results represents the impact you have made upon previous employers. When asking yourself these questions, make sure to write down the answer on a sheet of paper. 3. Determine which industries are best suited for the Results you are able to produce. List of industries include: • Mining • Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing and Hunting • Arts, Entertainment and Recreation • Finance and Insurance • Administration, Business Support and Waste Management Services • Manufacturing • Utilities • Construction • Real Estate and Rental and Leasing • Wholesale Trade • Transportation and Warehousing • Accommodation and Food Services (Hospitality) • Educational Services 4. Identify the Industry Association for your area. Say you’re in the Hospitality Industry and just relocated to Orlando, Florida. You could tap into the following associations: • Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association (CFHLA) • Orlando Hospitality Alliance 5. Connect with leaders within the association(s) you identify and request a personal introduction to members of the association who are hiring. Give a 👍🏾 if this was helpful. Give a 👎🏾 if this was a waste of your time. #employment #employmentopportunities #jobseeking #jobseekingtips #CollaborationCreatesCurrency #YBConnects #HBCU

Michael Bloomberg, who donated $600 million in 2024 to support medical schools at four historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), has a new plan to back Black education: Funding K-12 charter schools on HBCU campuses. On Thursday, the billionaire former New York City mayor’s Bloomberg Philanthropies and the education nonprofit City Fund announced a $20 million initiative to fund two public schools in Alabama, one at Stillman College and one at Tuskegee University, that will create direct pipelines into HBCUs and promote career success.
