It’s in the headlines every day now. Child sexual abuse is one of the most serious problems affecting our children, families and communities, causing devastating suffering and long-term consequences. Statistics show that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 5 boys will have experienced sexual abuse by the time they are 18 years old. (Center for Disease Control and Prevention 2006) Children of both genders, and every age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and family structure are at risk. Yet this form of abuse is still regarded in many communities as “taboo” and something to be ignored.
Beyond Taboo: Our Responsibility to Protect Children

    Awareness + Education + Empowerment + Love

Collective silence has caused grave damage to million of children, and protects the abuser. Together, we can do a much better job of learning about an insidious form of abuse and teach kids to better protect themselves.

Stop Abuse was formed in 1986 to prevent child sexual abuse through education, detection and referral. Through its research-based Emmy award-winning marionette program, “Simon Says, ‘Just Tell’” schoolchildren from kindergarten through Grade 5 learn to recognize, prevent and disclose abuse in a safe environment.

PACT is a network of passionate people who know the power of the human-animal bond and work hard to protect it. PACT is a constantly growing community of animal lovers that support each other and feel the connection between a person and their pet goes beyond life’s temporary, unpredictable crises. We are constantly expanding this network as more people become aware of our work and join us in protecting the human-animal bond by fostering companion animals or providing other support to people and pets in need.

We work towards a world where ZERO beloved companion animals are unwillingly surrendered to shelters because of a temporary military or medical crisis.

    What do we do?

We support the community through unique programs such as our emergency Pet Foster Programs, helping animal caregivers with their emergency needs, and running educational seminars. We know that sharing knowledge and supporting the community is the best way to improve the lives of companion animals and their human owners.

EPM is a US-based global leader in IP development and supplier of stable cannabinoid acid molecules. EPM was founded to address two critical but largely unknown needs: unlocking the potential of cannabinoid acids and bridging the gap between the pharmaceutical and cannabis industries.

We are at the forefront of conducting groundbreaking research into cannabinoid acid molecules for use in the development of medicines. We strive to accomplish our motto: “Help people live a better life” by unlocking the potential of cannabinoid acids, to develop new pharmaceutical innovations that will help enhance human health.

    Our Science:

Cannabinoid acids are the source of all known cannabinoids. The potency of the acids known to be extremely high but due to its instability they break into cannabinoids easily, posing major challenges for use in medical research.

Our scientific team, led by Prof. Raphael Mechoulam, was able to industrialize a formula to manufacture stable cannabinoid acids commercially, without having to use the plant or its products.

We have conducted ground-breaking research using cannabinoid acids. As proof of concept EPM evaluated the potency of the acids in Autoimmune, Inflammatory, Skin and Metabolic Disorders – all showing great potential. EPM introduces a new generation of cannabinoid stable acids, protected by a patent portfolio, with proven superior activity over known cannabinoids.

    Our Platform:

EPM has decided to collaborate and share its patented cannabinoid-acids API and developments through its proprietary and unique licensing platform. Companies and research institutes can apply for a license and apply our innovations into their own developments.

We are seeking to foster an environment for the collaboration and development of new therapies and treatments.

Whether we are employers or employees, managers or managed, the complexion of employment relationships has changed considerably as employment and society have changed. Although technology has created many thousands of positions that previously did not exist, I am concerned that perhaps some of the traditional and humanitarian core values of employment have been replaced or deleted altogether.

My grandfather, Army Major Dr. Julius Edward Stolfi, was a doctor who practiced medicine and healed soldiers during World War II. Recently, I was nostalgic for him and conducted Internet research on the war. My focus was that of leadership and execution. What I discovered was beyond fascinating. The lessons for following generations are obvious while quite compelling.

    Inside Business

During 13 years in markets ranging from Miami to Boston, I have learned many lessons about what to do and what not to do in business. Although the lessons are numerous and the variations significant, I have reduced them to what I have designated as the "Business Cs."

After spending more than thirteen years reading, researching, observing and working in marketing in many major markets across the country, I’ve made one discovery on a consistent basis. No matter the size of the company, no matter what the product or service, no matter what the demographics, marketing is an ambiguous term.
The definition inevitably varies by person. I had no idea how differently each person viewed marketing until I began presenting marketing seminars through the Virginia Department of Business Assistance (VDBA). While speaking to hundreds of business owners across the Commonwealth of Virginia, I can honestly say: no two definitions were alike.
My aim with this manual is to educate you, the business owner, on what marketing really is. With this foundation you will be able make an educated decision on what marketing medium to choose and how to apply it effectively to assist with growing your business.

  • Coaching is about winning and a lot more

    Inside Business

In our society we put a lot of emphasis on athletics. We cheer our favorite football, basketball or baseball team to their victories and feel their pain when they lose.

A fast glimpse during most sporting events will always show the coach for each team. Short or tall, wide or narrow, aggressive or subdued, the coach will always receive some mention, particularly as his character or history may have obvious influence on team performance.

I find myself being asked quite often what it is that I mean by coaching. A definition of coaching is personal, depending on the coach, the coaching environment and the subject matter for the coaching.

  • New year, new outlook - the value of gratitude

    Inside Business

Facing difficult survival-based decisions, many in 2010 had to reassess their holiday gift-giving budgets and, possibly, how the perceived values of past gifts - both given and received - have or have not held up over time.

Small business owners and charitable donors bore an especially disheartening burden as they weighed generous inclinations against sustainability in deciding how to compensate or support those who've helped support them and their causes. The good news heading into a…

Small business owners and charitable donors bore an especially disheartening burden as they weighed generous inclinations against sustainability in deciding how to compensate or support those who've helped support them and their causes. The good news heading into a new year is that there's real value in gifts of the mind and heart.

    Inside Business

Every quarter, my team and I like to assess things in our business. We take a hard honest look at what's working, what's not working and what is missing that if it existed would make a positive difference. It's what my business coach Charrise McCrorey (fulloutandfearless.com) calls a "reality check."

We take a hard honest look at what's working, what's not working and what is missing that if it existed would make a positive difference. It's what my business coach Charrise McCrorey (fulloutandfearless.com) calls a "reality check."

Understand, this is not always a pleasant process and it can often be uncomfortable. During my career I have found that some of the most uncomfortable situations have proven to be the most profitable once appropriately addressed and have often been the impetus behind a surge in growth.

This past evaluation proved to be nothing short of an eye-opener when we discovered that I had fallen back into an old habit of saying yes to everything. As a result, I was feeling resentful and angry and was not creating new options for clients in my business. I had allowed my focus to shift from clients' desires to the everyday things that bogged me down as a business owner. It was the combination of these things that was getting in the way of what we really wanted at our own firm.

  • How you can diffuse it when the "F" bomb drops

    Inside Business

I meet them regularly - people from all walks, snaking about with the foul word on their lips, spewing the venom left and right, indignant about why they can't do this in their lives, what's preventing that in business or the other thing that's got them chained to mediocrity. The "F" Word: It really is a bomb.

It's "fear," and it blinds, it paralyzes, it blocks paths of opportunity. Those who wield it know it's sabotage; those who embrace it often know, too. Gen. George S. Patton III…

The "F" Word: It really is a bomb.

It's "fear," and it blinds, it paralyzes, it blocks paths of opportunity. Those who wield it know it's sabotage; those who embrace it often know, too. Gen. George S. Patton III said, "There is a time to take counsel of your fears, and there is a time to never listen to any fear."

Fear is a naturally distressing emotion aroused by the perception of impending danger, pain or other highly undesired condition, whether the threat is real or imagined. What fascinates me about the definition of fear is that the threat may be real or imagined. I'd venture to presume that most of the fears experienced by the people I encounter are not entirely valid; the level of threat is imagined.

  • Small Business Success Tips: Shut Up & Listen

    Inside Business

Having specialized in sales, marketing and promotions for 12 years in markets ranging from Boston to New York to Miami, I observe one mistake most often. No matter the market, medium, salesperson or prospect, people just don't listen.

They seem more interested in hearing themselves talk, in conveying the message that they're the "smartest kids in the room" with the best information, and they're going to share, whether or not anyone appears receptive.

The voice of an account service manager rose above the rest during a recent industry event. A client, the man complained to a colleague, had rewritten ad copy to include certain sale items. Seemingly-frustrated, the man recounted the story with great detail, including the fact that the client had completely rewritten the copy for the advertisement.

"I would love my job if it weren't for the clients!" he then concluded.

Therein lies your problem, I thought. You have your job because you have clients. This man's attitude would likely be his real source of frustration, if not his ultimate downfall.

We touch patients in their communities through our 61 chapters across the U.S. and Canada.
