SBA Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Jim Spencer, District Director Dr. Kelly Hunt, and Deputy District Director Angel Marschik joined the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce to visit and tour Heartland Fabrication’s 50-acre manufacturing facility located on the banks of the Monongahela River in Brownsville. Since 2005, Heartland Fabrication strives to be the most respected barge manufacturer in America, specializing in rake and box hopper barges. With 420 employees, Heartland Fabrication manufacturers one barge every 32 hours. Each barge produced moves more than 900 million tons of cargo annually, including agricultural exports, energy products, raw materials, and industrial goods. The materials moved by just one barge is equivalent to 16 rail cars or 70 large semi-trucks, making barge transportation cheaper and cleaner per ton than trains or trucks. RA Spencer also led a discussion with CEO Ted Stilgenvauer about President Trump’s Made in America initiatives.

Started in 1983, Shaffer’s Fabricating is a family-owned business that manufactures and rebuilds custom mining equipment. They are the nation’s industry leader in overhauling and retooling longwall shearer drums used in extracting American coal. During the visit, RA Spencer led an in-depth discussion with economic development leaders from Fayette County.

We were happy to host Regional Administrator Jim Spencer in Pittsburgh yesterday. After visits to Enterprise Bank and Abram's Nation, we ended the day at #AcrisureStadium for the Pitt's Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence's Winter Social, where we networked with some of Pittsburgh's finest lenders, community partners, and entrepreneurs.
Last night, SBA Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Jim Spencer was with SBA Western PA District Office District Director Kelly Hunt at The Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence Winter Social, at Acrisure Stadium, in Pittsburgh, PA.
