The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is the agency of the federal government devoted to bolstering the American economy by supporting the creation, growth, and resilience of small businesses. Through an extensive network of field offices and partnerships with public and private organizations, the SBA empowers entrepreneurs and small business owners with assistance in key areas--capital access, counseling and education, federal contracting support, and disaster recovery. The SBA Georgia District Office, based in Atlanta, connects prospective and existing business owners as well as business and economic development stakeholders with SBA’s programs and resources throughout the state of Georgia.

  • For over 60 years, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation in observance of National Small Business Week to recognize small businesses as the trailblazers and builders of America’s economy. Congratulations to the 2026 Georgia Exporter of the Year: Winton Machine Company Lisa Ellyn and George Winton began operations over 30 years ago.  Today the company has 38 employees and builds more than 100 different machines and has been exporting worldwide for over 24 years. Its manufacturing programs are critical to national security, scientific advancement, and global competitiveness. Nominated by Darrell Hurlsey, of the UGA Small Business Development Center- International Trade Center. Winton Machine Company has leveraged the UGA SDBC, SBA's Emerging Leaders graduate and SBA loan programs through its business cycle. We celebrate Winton Machine Company!

  • The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Georgia District Office announced that the SBA delivered over $1.8 billion in capital and bonding to small businesses across the state of Georgia in Fiscal Year 2025 (October 1, 2024, to September 30th, 2025). The SBA Georgia District experienced another banner year of lending with increases in its flagship 7(a) Loan Program, the agency’s primary vehicle for providing funding to small businesses, as well as the 504 Loan Program, which provides financing for major fixed assets including real estate to promote business growth and job creation. At the 2026 Southeast Small Business Lender’s Conference, lenders were recognized for top number and dollars to support small business in Georgia. Third Party Lender Award Presented to   Renasant Bank for 504 Most Dollars 7 Loans for a total of $23.4 Million   Third Party Lender Award Presented to First Citizens Bank & Trust Company 9 Loans for a total of $18.1 Million    Certified Development Company of the Year Presented to  Georgia Small Business Capital  Total 504 Loan Number and Dollars 56 Loans for a total of $84.5 Million    7(a) Lender of the Year Presented to  Live Oak Banking Company Total Loan Dollars 87 Loans for a total of $ 127.1 Million Microlender of the Year Presented to Access To Capital for Entrepreneurs (ACE) ACE is the largest GA based Certified Development Financial Institution (CDFI) dedicated to small business development. ACE also provides USDA-loans, and other traditional lending programs and provides technical assistance and training to entrepreneurs, and hosts an SBA-Women’s Business Center. ACE funded 42 Loans for a total of $1.6 Million    Capital Impact Award Presented to the following: Signature Bank of Georgia (Recently acquired by First Community Corporation expanding its footprint across the Southeast, HQ in Raliegh NC). The numbers represented for this award is prior to the acquisition. 28 Loans for a total of $35.2 Million  Metro City Bank, headquartered in Doraville, GA is ranked nationally #38 SBA lender. In Georgia it ranks top 10. 17 Loans for a total of $35.2 Million   United Community Bank, the bank has built a nationally recognized SBA lending platform while remaining deeply committed to the communities it serves across Georgia and the Southeast.   • SBA Georgia District Office had the honor joining Coastal Area District Development Authority, Inc.(CADDA) at the Georgia Capitol. A resolution to recognize CADDA’s 50th Anniversary  of provide economic development lending programs to small businesses and industries expanding or locating in Georgia, North Florida, and the low country of South Carolina to improve the economic conditions of the region. CADDA has funded more than 1,300 small business loans, helped to invest over $526 million into communities throughout Coastal Georgia and beyond, and supported the creation and retention of more than 9,300 jobs.  Congratulations!

  • Georgia District Office Outreach and Training to Rural Communities On March 24, Business Opportunity Specialists Bart Njoku-Obi Bart Njoku-Obi, JD, MBA, CGBP and Kimberly Knight Kim Knight, MSM visited Tifton GA, to deliver a presentation on “Grow Your Rural Small Business with Federal Contracting: The SBA HUBZone Program.” Deputy Director Jeff Patterson Jeff Patterson MBA, FINRA 7 Office of Rural Affairs, kicked off the session highlighting SBA Office of Manufacturing and Trade SBA’s Made in America Manufacturing Initiative and capital access programs. The hybrid event was hosted by Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs Women’s Business Center (ACE WBC) at the South Georgia Chamber’s Center for Rural Prosperity in Tifton.

  • Kimberly Knight, Business Opportunity Specialist with the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Georgia District Office, delivered a presentation titled “How to Market to the Federal Government” for Launch Fayette. Aspiring and established entrepreneurs attended the session, gaining valuable insight into how the federal government procures goods and services. Participants also explored key elements of an effective business plan, learned how to develop a strong capabilities statement, and were introduced to tools for identifying federal contracting opportunities. Launch Fayette, located in Peachtree City, Georgia, supports startups by providing the resources and guidance needed to successfully launch and scale their businesses.
