Investing in innovation on the South Plains Taysha Williams, the managing director of the Texas Tech Innovation Hub, received a funding award from the U.S. Small Business Administration aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in the Texas Tech community. This new award is designed to grow the West Texas investor portfolio and bring more capital investment opportunities directly to startups in the region. This funding additionally allows the Innovation Hub to launch a West Texas Innovation Showcase that brings investors to the region to experience firsthand the depth of talent and innovation developing here. Building on their successful year-long Texas Tech Accelerator, the Innovation Hub is also establishing an Entrepreneur in Residence program that pairs post-accelerator founders with an experienced mentor to guide fundraising strategy, investor connections, and deal structuring. In addition, they are creating a robust Investment Readiness Program to strengthen venture capital knowledge and prepare startups to successfully secure funding. This will bolster the innovation ecosystem for Texas Tech and the surrounding area.

Shout out to the America's SBDC at WTAMU for another exciting event! Yesterday's annual lender appreciation luncheon was a great time to visit and reconnect with our Amarillo lending community and our friends and partners at the SBDC and the WT Enterprise Center. The event included an excellent presentation on the impact of agribusiness on the High Plains trade area by DeDe Jones, Sr. Risk Mgmt Specialist with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. We were also able to tour the SBDC's new office space where they will be able to continue the important work of supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs in the Panhandle.
