  • 📅 Mark your calendars! Sunday, March 29, is National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day, a day to honoring the small, family-owned businesses that keep our communities vibrant and resilient. Here is how you can show your support: 💳 Purchase gift cards from your favorite local shops and share them with colleagues, friends, or family. 💻 Engage with their online presence by following, liking, commenting on, and sharing their social media posts. 💬 Offer a thoughtful review or testimonial on platforms like Google, Yelp, or LinkedIn to help boost their visibility and credibility. - Spread the word offline. Personal referrals and word of mouth are still some of the most powerful drivers of new customers. Every purchase, share, and recommendation is a meaningful investment in the entrepreneurs who are the backbone of our local economies.

  • SBA Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Jim Spencer has made many trips to Maryland during his appointment at SBA and enjoyed meeting with small businesses and resources that have assisted them. "Happy birthday Maryland, I look forward to visiting again next month," Jim Spencer.

  • SBA Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Jim Spencer had the honor of attending this event to kick of National Ag Day yesterday with SBA Administrator Loeffler.

Thrilled to kick off National Ag Day this morning with Sec. Rollins and so many colleagues from across the Cabinet. Farmers are America’s ORIGINAL small business owners - and this Admin is proud to stand with the hardworking men & women who feed, clothe, and fuel our nation!

Most people think you have to build a business alone. They’re wrong. Today is #SBDCDay, and it’s the perfect time to highlight a resource that is often the "secret sauce" for successful startups. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with the SBDC, and I am a huge fan of the impact they make. As a resource partner of the SBA, they provide the ground-level support that actually moves the needle for local entrepreneurs. I’ve had the privilege of meeting many SBDC leaders across my region, joining them for events and business visits. The dedication they show to their communities is inspiring. One of my goals for the coming year is to visit the rest of the local SBDC offices in my region and continue supporting the incredible work they do. To all the SBDC teams out there: today we celebrate you. Keep up the great work! 👏 #SBDCDay #SmallBusiness #Entrepreneurship #SBA #CommunityGrowth

We hate to make suggestions, but we think this should be your new profile picture Jim Spencer! 📸

  • Such a great day for SBA Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Jim Spencer in Brownsville, PA last week!

SBA Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Jim Spencer, District Director Dr. Kelly Hunt, and Deputy District Director Angel Marschik joined the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce to visit and tour Heartland Fabrication’s 50-acre manufacturing facility located on the banks of the Monongahela River in Brownsville. Since 2005, Heartland Fabrication strives to be the most respected barge manufacturer in America, specializing in rake and box hopper barges. With 420 employees, Heartland Fabrication manufacturers one barge every 32 hours. Each barge produced moves more than 900 million tons of cargo annually, including agricultural exports, energy products, raw materials, and industrial goods. The materials moved by just one barge is equivalent to 16 rail cars or 70 large semi-trucks, making barge transportation cheaper and cleaner per ton than trains or trucks. RA Spencer also led a discussion with CEO Ted Stilgenvauer about President Trump’s Made in America initiatives.

Charity Grimm-Krupa’s Field Representative Debra Evans-Rhoads, Heartland Fabrication CEO Ted Stilgenvauer, Fayette County Chamber of Commerce Engagement Coordinator Ashley Howes, and Fayette County Chamber of Commerce Director Muriel Johnson-Nuttall stood in front of a hopper barge getting welded.
