  • A lot can get lost in the shuffle when you’re moving from one meeting to the next. There’s a name for it: “context shredding. It’s the mental drain that comes from constantly switching between topics and teams and it makes it hard to keep meetings truly productive. It’s something DJ Sampath, SVP of Cisco’s AI Software and Platform group, thinks about and his hack is AI. “Being able to start to put together  a small briefing that logs into your calendar saying, 'here's your transition from this meeting to this meeting,'" he explains in a LinkedIn News interview at the Cisco AI Summit. “ Being able to think through some of that stuff before you have meetings  can be a huge game changer because it avoids re-litigating things that have already been decided.” What are you doing to maximize meeting productivity? Share in the comments.

Is it "productive" to read your emails? Or attend meetings? Not according to the expert. Daniel Pink, best-selling author and one of today’s most trusted voices on motivation and performance, has spent years writing about productivity and he says you need to rethink the very definition of the word: "Productivity is about getting meaningful work done — period." He's got 5 powerful moves that will help you reclaim your focus. Here's one: ✅ Each day, identify one "MIT" — Most Important Task — and only focus on getting that done. The emails, the meetings, the endless to-do lists ... they could be stopping you from meeting your biggest goals. Dan says, "It's a cliché, but you can be busy but not productive." What do sports have to do with women becoming CEOs? More than you might think. From learning to fail fast ➝ to building teamwork ➝ to owning ambition, sports teach the exact skills leadership demands. And yet… we don’t always teach girls that it’s okay to compete or to want more. That ambition gap doesn’t start in the boardroom. It starts way earlier. 👉 Want to zoom out on what’s quietly holding women back at work? Join us on March 4 for a live conversation with Melinda French Gates, Regina Dugan, and LinkedIn's Jessi Hempel on the health gap stalling women’s careers — and what it’ll take to close it. • "I'm going to need to adapt a lot. There's going to be a lot of failures that hopefully lead to a lot of success. So, it's a scary thing to do, but looking forward to it." Before Fernando Mendoza was a Heisman Trophy winner, before the National Championship, he was just a kid going door to door selling mangoes with his brother. Fernando's path has always been a series of bold bets: turning down Yale, committing to Berkeley, then transferring to Indiana University. Each decision landed him closer to his goal of going pro. Now he's standing on the edge of the NFL, ready for whatever comes. Catch Fernando's full story on The Path with LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky here: https://lnkd.in/edX7dWz8

  • Did you get passed over for a promotion? Respond strategically by asking for the data, says Carla Harris, a world-renowned career and leadership expert. Start with your manager and anyone else who was at the decision table. Try this script: “To get promoted, I needed to do A, B and C. Here are three examples I delivered A, B and C. I’m obviously missing something. What would make this an easy decision next time?” If you hear “it wasn’t your time,” widen the circle to two or three stakeholders, create a safe space, and listen for the real feedback. Don’t debate it. Receive it. Data is your friend. What’s one move that helped you get to the next level? • On what would have been Steve Jobs’ 71st birthday, Former Gap CEO 'Mickey' Drexler remembers one thing about his leadership: persistence. In 1999, Jobs asked Drexler to join Apple’s board. Drexler said no. A year later, Jobs asked again — and proposed a trade: If Drexler joined Apple, he’d join the Gap board. That partnership would go on to influence the creation of the Apple Store. How has persistence made the difference in your career? Share in the comments.
