Last night we opened a door unlike any other. At the heart of Microsoft’s campus, step into the new home of the UW's Global Innovation Exchange (GIX) and you cross from Microsoft into the University of Washington. No one has ever put a great research university and a leading technology company under the same roof quite like this. As far as I know, no one has even tried. The timing matters. Artificial intelligence is advancing fast. The question is whether the people building it understand the world it’s changing. This calls for a new style of education and leadership. We need leaders who understand the technology deeply and see things through other people’s eyes. Leaders who learn by collaborating on real projects with people from different countries and disciplines. That’s what GIX is built for. Students will learn from faculty across the UW, take classes taught by Microsoft employees, and be mentored by people from across our industry here in the Pacific Northwest. And it works both ways. Our first cohort of 30 senior technical leaders from Microsoft will spend their evenings here in a mini-MBA program, and our goal is three or four cohorts every year. This partnership will do great things for our two institutions, for our state, and as a role model beyond Washington. What we have today is strong. But what’s to come will be even greater. So many people made this possible. Thank you to UW President Robert J. Jones, who saw that this could matter even more in the future than it does today, and to academic leaders across the university. To the incredible Microsoft team for backing and building this from the very beginning. To Redmond Mayor Angela Birney and our state legislators. To Christine Gregoire, who helped find a path forward when we needed one, and to Sean Carr, who has nurtured GIX into what it is today. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eKFKwTUN

Some challenges are simply too large for traditional tools. With decades of mission data and scientific knowledge, NASA is using AI and Microsoft technology to help navigate a universe of information. When AI can reason across that history in seconds, it can uncover connections and discoveries that might otherwise remain hidden. AI is only as useful as the context it can reason over. With Fabric IQ now generally available in Copilot, you can ask questions of your enterprise data and get answers grounded in trusted business context, right where you work.

Today, I’m in Barcelona with our #FabCon and #SQLCon communities, sharing what’s next across Microsoft Fabric and our database portfolio.   AI needs more than capable models. It needs your business data, your knowledge, and the context that makes your organization unique.   Here are a few of today’s announcements:   ✅ Fabric IQ in Microsoft Copilot Chat and Cowork, generally available today, brings trusted business context into your Copilot experience.   ✅ Apps in Power BI, entering preview in the coming weeks, will let people use natural language to build operational applications from trusted semantic models, powered by Fabric Apps.   ✅ Database Hub in Fabric, now in preview, brings monitoring, governance, and management of your database estate into one experience.   ✅ SQL Server on Azure Local, now generally available, gives customers more flexibility to run workloads close to their operations while maintaining control over where their data resides.   Less time connecting the pieces. More time putting your data and business knowledge to work.   Read more in my blog linked below 👇   #MicrosoftFabric #PowerBI

I could not be more excited about our Copilot announcement today and the next wave of innovation we will bring to our customers. https://lnkd.in/exq6UPDq Copilot was built to enable AI in the flow of human ambition. It has evolved from a chat assistant to the singular place to get uninterrupted work done. With Home, the convergence of Chat and Cowork, you can interact conversationally and create artifacts collaboratively. Code allows you to build AI solutions that help overcome obstacles to improve how you work. Autopilot acts autonomously to execute ongoing tasks, manage projects, and handle follow-up. We are also announcing Office in Copilot: Word, Excel and PowerPoint are now built into the experience. This all happens within the Copilot canvas, but the true differentiation and power of Copilot is derived from the Intelligence + Trust platforms upon which it sits. Microsoft IQ is the open, heterogeneous, model-diverse, intelligence platform that enables individual and organizational IQ to compound from within, protecting your IP so your unique value does not leak to improve models. Work IQ pulls from an individual’s gated M365 environment, and today we are announcing that Copilot can now access data from across your organization by connecting to Fabric IQ and Dynamics 365. A trust platform requires Observability, management, governance, and security of every agent and agentic process running across your technology stack to ensure you are seeing value and ROI. FinOps is critical here, and we are introducing new capabilities in Agent 365 and Copilot to manage model choice and cost for both user subscription licenses (USL) and usage-based billing (UBB), depending on the modality being used within Copilot. Please join us at Ignite in November to learn about how our latest innovations will continue accelerating your path to become Frontier. https://lnkd.in/ejMEq8gH

People started by asking AI questions. Now they're delegating tasks, building solutions, and automating work that runs in the background. We see those patterns in trillions of productivity signals across Microsoft Copilot. Office set the shape of productivity for the PC era. Copilot is doing that for the AI era, expanding both what people can do and who gets to do it. Today we’re introducing the new Copilot, an evolution of the Copilot app that connects the tools people rely on with the next generation of capabilities they’ll need to build, customize, and scale AI across work. Copilot has three new capabilities: Office in Copilot brings the full value of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint right where the conversation’s happening. Code in Copilot empowers every knowledge worker to turn ideas into solutions using natural language. And the new Autopilots tab in Copilot where you can create a personal autopilot that is persistent and proactive. Learn more: https://msft.it/6044a956o

The New Bottleneck The bottleneck is no longer intelligence. Over the last six months, intelligence has accelerated dramatically. But smarter models are not enough for everyone to benefit from novel intelligence. New form factors are required. GPT-3 needed Chat. Opus 4.5 needed Code and Cowork. Today, with Astra and Fable, we’re in a familiar position. Intelligence is advancing faster than it can reach people in useful forms. The model overhang is back. The new bottleneck is diffusion. Increased intelligence needs to translate to human progress. Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization to achieve more. If we fail to create new ways to utilize increased intelligence, this mission is at risk. The New Copilot Our next step is the new Copilot. Home, Code, and Autopilot. Home is your new starting point, unifying Chat and Cowork into a single experience. Ask a quick question or delegate a whole project. No need to decide where to start. Home also features Today, our new proactive view that spans Outlook, Teams, meetings, and tasks. Today doesn’t just flag things you missed; it moves work forward. The draft is already written, and the schedule change is already proposed. We’re also bringing Office into Copilot. For the first time, you don’t have to choose between AI editing and human collaboration. We’ve brought the full power of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint into Copilot, so you can create, edit, and collaborate with colleagues and Copilot at the same time. Next, Code is coming to Copilot. Models can write code but environments, hosting, and sharing get in the way. With Code, just describe an app, tracker or workflow in plain English. Code runs sandboxed on your machine or safely in your tenant in the cloud. Now, hosting and sharing an app is as easy as a Word document. Finally, Autopilot. Your digital teammate. Give it a name, an appearance, a role, and a goal. Your Autopilot has it’s own identity, memory, computer, and workspace. Autopilot is enterprise grade, with real permissions, audit, and governance, all from Agent365. It can monitor work, coordinate with your team, and keep projects running over weeks -- just tag it in a document, forward it an email, or message it on Teams! Home. Code. Autopilot. Intelligence is here. Put it to work.

We’re building Copilot as a new OS for work that spans every model, every form factor, and every task. Today, we’re announcing our biggest update to Copilot to date, bringing four things together: • Autopilot: proactive and long-running agent built for the enterprise • Code: build apps with Copilot, hosted inside your company’s tenant • Home: Chat + Cowork together • Office: now fully embedded in Copilot (and Copilot embedded in Office, of course!) Plus, you can invoke Copilot in Teams, and we’re introducing Today, a proactive experience that surfaces the most important information from across M365 without needing to ask for it. The way we work is changing and so are our workflows. This update brings AI into that flow, from answering a question, to building an app, to getting work done on your behalf.
