Meta Chief Product Officer Chris Cox took to the stage to kick off LlamaCon 2025. “We built this place on open source,” he said. “And from the very early days, a lot of our best engineers were contributing back to the open source stack that we were built upon or becoming primary authors of new open source projects in the web stack, and then over the years, the mobile stack, and then over the last decade, the AI toolkit we build upon today.”

When Rebekkah H., Director of program management first started at Meta, the AI team had just begun building partnerships with academic institutions and sharing its research publicly. Today, she leads AI program management, helping identify and nurture new talent by providing learning opportunities and enabling teammates to innovate in new spaces. Her biggest piece of advice for anyone starting their career? “Be open to trying new things.
