An engaged search is a variation of the retained search model and, in some ways, is a combination of the retained search and the contingent search.  A portion of the fee is paid upfront ensuring a commitment on the part of the recruiter with the remainder paid upon the talent accepting a position with the client. This model is most effective for filling critical Mid-level manager positions or for smaller clients for whom a retained search is not cost effective.  It helps to ensure a dedicated effort to fill the position with the best talent in a timely manner.
