We all are always told our main goal of existence is moksha, if so then at end of mahabharata war why did pandavas choose svarga? they could have got moksha if they wanted due to their karma?

3@suresh Great question (gave an upvote too). The Pandavas desired svarga because they were actually the incarnations of devatas (i.e. Shri Lord Yamaraj incarnated as his son, etc) and therefore once their earthly duties are done they go back to their natural home (svarga). From the perspective of Dwaita Vedanta, all devatas will obtain moksha once their divine duties (earthly + heavenly) are finished, but until then they remain in svarga.Debbie– Debbie2025-12-31 15:28:23 +00:00Commented 17 hours ago

Arjuna ji and other pandavas are present in various places not just in a single place. By the following conversation of Sage Nārada ji and Gopa Kumāra ji it becomes even more clear.
O Nārada, best of the Iord's associates in the guise of an exalted sage, I see you just everywhere in the heavenly planets, in Vaikuṇṭha, and now here looking just the same. How fascinated I am to see this!
Śri Nārada said: My dear young cowherd (Gopa Kumāra), surely you have always been a curious boy, and so you are even now.
Haven't I explained all this to you before? Just as the one Personality of Godhead Śrī Krsna exİsts in many forms and many places, so also do we, His servants.
So it is with all of us–śri Garuda and other attendants, devotees like Śrimān Hanumān, and our friend Uddhava, and others too, like these Yādavas.
All the Lord's personal associates are at His hand like play things. They are always fully dedicated to His service. Each assumes a variety of forms yet stays essentially one, just like the Lord Himself.
The Lord's names, His pastimes, and His favorite abodes and everything that has to do with His service can assume various forms. And you should know that just as all these are eternally real, each of them is simultaneously one and many.
- Brihad Bhagavatamrita 2.5.50-55
If you would have read the glories of abodes like Vṛndāvana, Goloka, Ayodhyā then you would have also heard about same sages sometimes serving Lord Kṛṣṇa at other places they are also serving Lord Rāma and at other places Lord Viṣṇu etc. too it is because of this reason alone.
In Dwārkā abode of Lord Kṛṣṇa the pandvas are eternally present which should clear your doubt.
Brihad Bhagavatamrita 2.5.45:
कदाचिदेष तत्रैव वर्तमानानदूरतः । पाण्डवानीक्षितुं गच्छेदेकाकी प्रियबान्धवान् ॥
Sometimes the Lord (Śrī Kṛṣṇa) would go alone to visit His dear friends the Pāņdavas, who stayed nearby (in Dvārakā abode located in Vaikuṇṭha).
COMMENTARY: On earth the Pāndavas lived a good distance away from Dvārakā, in Hastināpura, so Krsna had to make a long journey to meet them. In Vaikuntha, however, the situation is different. Even if the residence of the Pāndavas is physically distant from Dvārakā-puri, in the spiritual realm there are no limitations of time and space. By the power of the Lord's desire, any place to which He wishes to travel is at once nearby.
Thus in my opinion with scriptural proof we should understand this as mere līlā according to the will of Lord Kṛṣṇa only.
