One of the attributes you can level up is Agility. Its description is

Makes the character play more often.

What exactly does this mean? I don’t think it refers to turns during combat, as I seem to cycle between my entire party on my turn (though admittedly, my party is composed of only two people).

What does Agility do?

Honestly, that's probably the worst description of Agility I've seen in a video game in years. Commented 14 hours ago

Agility does in fact affect how frequently a character acts in battle. I found this explanation on Reddit of why you don't see much of an effect from the stat early:

That early in the game, attribute points do matter. I'm guessing it's helping you keep EVEN with the enemies so they don't get more turns than you. But most of your stats will come from pictos especially in the later parts of the game. And yes, having enough speed (not necessarily agility though it gives you speed) can give you more turns than the enemy.

Later in the game it becomes much more obvious. If you have a solo character equip a pictos that give you (Y) +500 in agility, and fight the same enemy (E) with the pictos equiped and not equipped, it might go Y, E, Y, Y, E vs E, Y, E, E, Y or something like that. Commented 18 hours ago
