I’m considering a solo trip to Pattaya and would like to understand how safe it is specifically for a woman traveling alone. I’m not asking about nightlife or party scenes, but about general day-to-day safety such as walking around, using public transport or taxis, staying in hotels, and going out alone during the day or early evening. Thanks ahead of time!

Pattaya is as safe as any major Thai city. There's a risk of petty theft/pickpocketing, and scams targeted at naive tourists are all too common. However, you are highly unlikely to be physically assaulted.

Pattaya is, of course, also notorious for its sex industry and if you're out and about at night as a solo female you may well find yourself propositioned. But say no and that should be the end of it.

All that said, I'd advise you to reconsider your choice of destination. As a city, Pattaya has little to offer that Bangkok or Chiang Mai doesn't do better, and when it comes to beaches, pretty much any other Thai resort has better ones.

100%. Pattaya is the Benidorm of Thailand. If you want English breakfast and ham, egg and chips for dinner each night, it’s the place for you. Commented yesterday
