Not for companies that have corporate device fleets, ESPECIALLY if these have previously invested into certifying certain models of 3.5" wired headsets for compliance and are now provisioning their employees with the smartphone + wired headset combo. I have no doubts that 10 VIII can be a great company issued device because it is not bad at all from the TCO perspective if we consider its lifespan (up to 6 years of updates). Moreover, it has two features that most rivals lack (3.5" wired headset and MicroSD support.) Either of these features might be critical for folks doing work in the field.
However, as a personal device, it is dangerously close to a DOA product.

Sony phones don't get a significant (if any) price drop after a few months (like other brands), so don't expect the price of this overpriced phone to go down. Perhaps during Black Friday it can get a 50, max. 100 euros discount for a limited time only. But even then it will be too expensive for what this phone offers.

But we all know you never ... moreI have been using xiaomi phones with custom roms since the miui days little puppy so stop talking, and if it hypergarbage is so good why are you running into bugs? why can't you disable the "security" app? why do you need the "security" to force stop apps or clear ram/cache? don't talk about things you don't understand

I certainly don't think the 10 VIII should cost what it costs, but it's definitely not just Sony raising prices.
Guess the "AI"-fueled RAM and whatever crisis is real, or just a very good excuse to speed up what's happening for the past 10-15 years anyway. Be as it may, we can now pay even more for the same thing and talk to AI whenever we have a need to very quickly get very wrong answers to all of our questions. 👏🤣

in 2026 that kind of bezel is a crime. its almost as if Sony has given up. i mean, they cant even get their own domestic customers. Theyre losing to Apple, Google and Samsung in their own homeground.

i'm a big sony fan and all — still one of the ONLY oems doing the bare minimum and providing a full featureset — but with the moto g stylus line being significantly cheaper (and better in a few aspects — the 2025 model, for example) this feels a bit redundant? hopefully it at least drives down the price of the 10 vii

Seems like way, way too many compromises (price, performance, form factor, storage) to get audio jack and card slot.
