      *sigh*

Stop Killing Games has failed in the EU (though they have already expected this).
Now, Stop Killing Games has also failed in California. On a technicality.

        Apparently "play" has its limits.
        But "pay" has no limits.

Feem, 02 Jul 2026I would be okay with being all digital if it didn’t mean that companies can also revoke my own... moreNot only sony is "stealing (let's say it for what it is)" your digital libraries, sony also does not have a good track record when it comes to securing their customer's accounts (sony getting hacked).

It's not just sony who is ending physical media in 2028.
Deadbox is also doing the same to their next console release.
              It feels "coordinated".
              Just like ID verification.

Most sales are digital anyway. And all the sheep spouting 'you will own nothing and be happy' is hilarious. We cannot stay on blu ray discs forever.

optical disc media itself is nearing its end. It's possible that Blu-ray discs will also cease production in the near future. If you don't like that, how about reviving Memory Sticks?

potato4k, 02 Jul 2026What killed piracy on PC is not digital distribution per se, it's Steam's decision t... moreYou get it kind of wrong there. Pirating is not gone at all or changed from the past. The thing is more on the part of game studios that have just produced tra$h that people don't even want to pirate the games. And that is actually really bad to offer games cheap for different markets as that would make people pirate more cause of their own region higher price that feels totally ripping them off.

The main reason why people buy games over pirating is the online content like multiplayer. You can't play online these pirated games. Single player games are still pirated more cause these are way more stable without the copyright protection programs in the games that cause most of the issues in games to perform bad.

Problem is not digital content itself in online stores. Problem is content that you pay to have it and not own it.

And Sony is punishing himself to a new terms. They think all country or household had very good bandwith internet, to my country almost household are using 1~5mbps internet speed because here is pricey every number of bandwidth.
