"Using non-local accounts to buy games is common". Yes you can use Non-Local Accounts to buy games Where DISC is available for purchase. It's very common for users to buy used games on the market at a reduced price. Especially if the gamer is saving money. In Digital Contents. You don't get to buy games at a discounted priced at all times. Most of the time. You'll be paying the Games FULL PRICED TAG. And if you're one of the Unlucky Person whose PSN Account is Permanently Suspended for no Reason. Then All of your Purchased games are Gone.
The industry wants to own and control us. Music, cars, phones, games etc. Purchasing is not ownership

Anonymous, 03 Jul 2026what happen to Crew then? game that started stop killing games movementI don't know what you're talking about. Could you please elaborate?
I think the best solution is to have a physical media binding the content to the console, it's the best of both worlds.
"" Sony claims most of its community prefers to purchase games digitally. ""
.... which means Sony can kill minorities' opinion just like that.
"" PC players have been doing it for decades now, as companies realized long ago you cannot offer physical media on that platform without it getting immediately copied and pirated. Of course, as we all know, that immediately killed piracy on PC, and no game has ever been illegally distributed since.""
I think you're slighty wrong here, GSMArena. I've heard of Fitgirl or something repacks that are pirated in my opinion, and they come for new games too. (I didn't use it ever or pirate anything though)
Tell me, who stops you from grabbing files from the PC's disk system?

Sony lied about physical sales for years. 80-85% digital ? ok but how about games that releases on disk and digital OR digital only. There is no disk version for fortnite, genshin impact, all the dls, indie games are all digital.

Just a thought:
If sony and microslop goes through with removing physical media, then both sony and microslop are now susceptible to the EU's DMA (Digital Market's Act) and/or DFA (Digital Fairness Act), just like apple (alternative app store).
Though it may not be just limited to the EU, but Brazil (to an extent LATAM), and Japan can also enforce similar regulation to sony and microslop. Just like what happened to apple.
The greedy corporate counter argument:
But we have "game-key" card/disc physical media as alternative.
Surely we (greedy sony and microslop) are exempted form the DMA (Digital Markets Act) and/or DFA (Digital Fairness Act) right?
Well:
1. If the politicians are too dumb and/or too gullible to understand what game-key cards/discs are (which we all know most politicians are tech illiterate and are easy to fool/scare by lobbyists).
or
2. Bribery/corruption (just like the 6 hours closed door meeting with the ESA [entertainment software asshociation] without SKG [Stop Killing Games] in opposition of regulation.)
The anti-stream crowd:
But what about steam? Surely they too can be susceptible to DMA and/or DFA, yes?
Well:
1. Steam OS is based on arch linux OS so customers can download alternative app stores (whethere it can run on steam hardware, that's a different issue.)
2. Do they really want to give steam more power?
Apparently they want to because:
a. sony and microslop are too lazy to compete...
b. sony and microslop are too incompitent to compete...
c. sony and microslop may have massive amounts of money, but instead of using it to create good games, they use the money on lobbying, lawyering/lawfare, buying yachts to show who has the bigger ego, and hiring DEI/ESG checkboxes who has zero knowledge about video games or outright hate gamers to begin with.
d. blame steam as a monopoly but not blame sony and microsolp for selling sloppy games like concord & marathon from sony and CoD:BO7 & south of midnight from microslop to name a few.
P.S. Not limited to sony and microslop. May extend to ubislop, EA, ABK, epic, etc (except GoG).
