A Slack message. A math equation. A breakthrough that will reshape data centers globally. 🚀🌍 Our infrastructure team just achieved what the industry said was impossible: a flat data center network using random graph theory that's 1/3 faster & reduces networking electricity by 40%. Behind this breakthrough: mathematicians, networking experts, optical engineers, & data center designers working across countries to solve a decade-old puzzle. We're hiring the people who build & maintain this infrastructure; roles spanning engineering, operations, networking & security across our global data centers rolling out this design in 2026.
We developed Resilient Network Graphs, a flat data center network architecture that replaces rigid hierarchical topologies with a first-of-its-kind design inspired by random graph theory. For over a decade, researchers argued this approach should work, but no one could solve the engineering challenges of building it at scale. A cross-disciplinary team at AWS of Amazon Scholars, networking experts, and scientists working across multiple countries, cracked the code. The result: a network that delivers greater reliability and performance for customers, saves billions of dollars in hardware, and reduces networking electricity by 40%. This is what's possible when you own and innovate on every layer of the stack from hardware to software. Not incremental optimization. A fundamental redesign of how information moves through data centers. Proud of this team. https://lnkd.in/eFPe-H3Y
