🎤Linda Clemons reposted thisWhat better way to kick off this summer of observing America's semiquincentennial than to see the unveiling in Portsmouth, New Hampshire of the mural of Ona Judge, the enslaved woman who self-emancipated herself from the household of President George and Martha Washington. For those who'd like to know more about Ona Judge, I recommend "Never Caught: The Washingtons' Relentless Pursuit of their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge" by Erica Armstrong Dunbar, who also happens to be the historical consultant for The Gilded Age. Thank you Sarah Chadzynski for the video.🎤Linda Clemons reposted thisWhat an incredible moment to witness: the unveiling of the mural of Ona Judge. Representation matters. History matters. Fearless trailblazers like Ona, matter. Thank you to the organizing team at The Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire for giving us the gift of truth. 💪💜🇺🇸

🎤Linda Clemons reposted thisWe lost a genius whose legacy left us in the right direction.🎤Linda Clemons reposted thisDr. Gladys West, the mathematician whose work laid the foundation for modern GPS technology, has died at the age of 95. She passed away on January 17, 2026, reportedly surrounded by family at her home in Alexandria, Virginia. West’s contributions underpin a technology now embedded in global commerce, aviation, emergency response, and everyday navigation, though her role went largely unrecognized until late in her life. Despite the scale of her impact, West’s contributions remained largely unrecognized for decades, even as her white colleagues were more visibly celebrated. In 2018, a brief biography she submitted for an event hosted by her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, helped spark viral interest in her story and a wave of honors. She was inducted into the US Air Force Space and Missiles Pioneers Hall of Fame in 2018, named Female Alumna of the Year at the HBCU Awards, listed in the BBC’s 100 Women of 2018, and received the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Prince Philip Medal in 2021. The Virginia Senate also passed a resolution commending her “trailblazing career in mathematics and vital contributions to modern technology.” Stay in the loop with more great stories via the POCIT newsletter: https://buff.ly/kj16qP8

🎤Linda Clemons reposted this🎤Linda Clemons reposted this“Black patients faced longer waits for kidney transplants because of a race-based formula until medical student Joel Bervell explained the issue in videos that reached millions in 2022. Joel Bervell created straightforward videos explaining the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) formula. The older version included a race-based multiplier that increased scores for Black patients. This overestimated their kidney function and delayed specialist referrals and transplant listings. In 2021, the National Kidney Foundation and American Society of Nephrology recommended removing race from the calculation. Early in 2023, the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network required all U.S. kidney transplant centers to use a race-neutral equation and review past cases. A study published March 9, 2026, in JAMA Internal Medicine found that more than 21,000 Black Americans received wait-time modifications. This added a median of 1.7 years to their time on the transplant list and was associated with an increase of 5.3 kidney transplants per 1,000 Black candidates. "It essentially assumed that all Black patients had better kidney functioning than any other race," Bervell said. His videos helped raise awareness and supported more equitable care for patients in the community.” #BlackExcellence #Hero

🎤Linda Clemons reposted this🎤Linda Clemons reposted thisThe Risk Companies Take When They Overlook Black and Latina Women For Women’s History Month, it’s important to recognize intersectionality. A woman’s experience in the workplace is often shaped not only by gender, but by race, ethnicity and skin color. At first glance, the data suggest there is very little difference between male and female unemployment rates (BLS, 2026). But when we break the data down by race, a more complex story emerges. White and Asian men and women tend to have very similar unemployment rates. But among Hispanic workers, Latina women often experience slightly higher unemployment than Latino men. Among Black workers, the gap can shift and is sometimes higher for men, sometimes for women- but overall unemployment remains significantly higher than other groups. As of Feb 2026, the rate for Black women is a little above 7% and climbing by the day. These patterns remind us that women’s experiences at work are not uniform. This Women’s History Month, let’s ensure ALL women are supported. Too often, Black and Latina women are overlooked for mentorship, advancement, and leadership opportunities. Black and Latina women also need allies among those who still hold influence and stability in organizations and people willing to see their value (not just their mistakes), advocate for equitable access to opportunity, and ensure talented women are not sidelined. Research shows that organizations that invest in Black and Latina women see higher engagement, stronger innovation, and better performance, while those that fail to do so put themselves at risk in numerous ways. If your organization wants to attract, support, and retain diverse women leaders, I’d love to share insights from my research and strategies that help reduce bias and unlock talent. #WomensHistoryMonth #InclusiveLeadership #WorkplaceEquity #DiversityInLeadership #HRLeadership #WomenInLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #Intersectionality #BlackWomenAtWork #LatinaLeaders

🎤Linda Clemons reposted this🎤Linda Clemons reposted thisA teacher told him his people had no history—so he spent his entire life proving that one cruel lie sparked the greatest treasure hunt in Black History. It started with a question from a curious child. His classmates had been taunting him again, insisting that Black people had no past, no achievements, nothing worth remembering. So Arthur raised his hand and asked his teacher a simple question: "Where can I read about the history of Black people?"The teacher's response was swift and dismissive. "There are no such books. Black people have no history worth recording."In that moment, something ignited inside the young boy—a fire that would burn for the next fifty years and illuminate the truth for millions. At seventeen, Arthur arrived in New York City with almost nothing but an unshakeable conviction: if the books didn't exist, he would find them. And if the world claimed Black history was a void, he would fill it with undeniable proof. He began his hunt in dusty bookshops, attics, estate sales, and forgotten archives across America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Latin America. Every rare pamphlet, every overlooked manuscript, every fading photograph of a Black scholar, artist, or revolutionary became a piece of the puzzle he was determined to complete.Fellow collectors called him obsessed. He called it justice.Arthur Schomburg didn't just collect—he excavated. By the 1920s, Schomburg's collection had grown so vast and valuable that the New York Public Library purchased it—over 5,000 books, 3,000 manuscripts, 2,000 etchings and paintings, and thousands of pamphlets documenting the African diaspora. What began as one man's response to childhood humiliation became the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem—one of the most important research libraries in the world for the study of Black history, culture, and the African diaspora. The next time someone tells you that you don't matter, that your story isn't important, that your past doesn't exist—remember Arthur Schomburg. ❤️🖤💚

Today, the initiative had awarded $14million to 157 startups, mentored over 1,100 founders, and generated $348 million in revenue across its network. At the 5th annual Demo Day in Miami, two co-winners split the $100,000 grand prize: AJ Addae of Sula Labs, which creates science-backed products for melanin-rich skin, and Alexander Zanders of UFarmX, an AI platform that helps farmers access credit and markets. Pharrell received a key to Miami-Dade County. The concert and the key to Miami are nice touches, but the real celebration is 157 companies growing, hiring, and solving real problems. - Africa Giant

Sixty-two years after the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Foundational Black America remains anchored at the absolute bottom of America’s economic strata-caste system. Period. Full stop. Every metric—median household wealth, unemployment, labor-force participation, business ownership, contracting, and procurement—confirms it. White women and white LGBTQIA+ elites have been the primary beneficiaries of every hiring quota, set-aside contract, and diversity dollar. They rode the coattails of our (the Black) struggle straight into boardrooms, government contracts, and tenured posts while we (Foundational Black Americans) were left holding the symbolic bag and the end of the line of perceived inclusion. Behind every protected class—whites, Asians, Hispanics, veterans, Hasidic Jews, Native Americans, and every other constructed grievance category—stand Black people in last place, last hired, first fired, perpetually excluded. This is not oversight. This is engineered betrayal. Malcolm X warned us: we have been hoodwinked, bamboozled, and led astray by the illusion of progress. The Civil Rights Movement was hijacked and weaponized against the very people who bled for it. In 2026 alone, more than 500,000 Black men and women have already been excised from the workforce. DEI is a corpse. Let it die. Bury it without eulogy. The plantation of deceit has run its course. Black America must declare total intellectual, economic, and political independence. No more marching for inclusion into a system that was never designed to include us. Time to build for ourselves, by ourselves, without apology. — Dr. Ken #DEIisDead #DontEverInclude #BlackEconomicIndependence #FoundationalBlackAmerica #EconomicSovereigntyNow Charles H. Nearly 60% of Americans can’t cover a $1,000 emergency without going into debt. About 1 in 4 have no savings at all. The average savings account balance is shockingly low compared to the rising cost of living. At the same time, the average American carries over $90,000 in total debt when you include mortgages, student loans, and credit cards. Now pause and think about what that does to your mind. Financial stress is one of the leading causes of anxiety, depression, and even relationship breakdowns. When your money is out of control, your peace disappears with it. But here’s the flip side. Consistent saving and investing literally changes your brain chemistry. Studies show that people with even a small financial cushion experience less stress, better sleep, and more confidence in decision-making. And when you invest, you’re not just saving money—you’re buying freedom. The S&P 500 has historically returned around 8–10% annually. That means small, consistent investments can quietly turn into life-changing wealth over time. This isn’t just about money. It’s about control. Stability. Peace of mind. It’s about waking up knowing you’re not one emergency away from disaster. If you’re ready to start building real wealth and learn how to make your money work for you, don’t wait. 🎤Linda Clemons liked this🎤Linda Clemons liked thisThere is a reason many of us within the Black community do not enagage in traditional mental health service interventions. I’ve done workshops discussing the historical and community based context behind this and I’ve always worked with others as a grantee doing a study on this very issue for the Minnesota Department of Human Services during the pandemic. The only way we can change this is through representation in this field however, there are so many systemic barriers to our access to doing this work the cost alone eliminates 98% of our community from pursuing it, and so I understand why the population is what it is. I’m one of the few foundational black Americans in the entire state of Minnesota boots on the ground working in a mental health space and that needs to change if we truly want to address the disparities in in equities in mental health services. Speaking specifically for my community I understand my community is not interested in traditional white body supremacist mental health service intervention, and the only way we can provide a culturally competent as much as I hate that word. I like to use responsive mental health service to address our communities, unique struggles is we have to get in the game. We can no longer afford to ignore our mental health outcomes. Representation in the field is one of the ways we can change this narrative. My new non-profit Broken to Bespoke was created to address this with our youth ages 12-18 as well as ILC4Y and I am excited to launch it and for it to be a safe space for our youth to be seen and heard as we have REAL talk and address their REAL needs in a way that empowering, informative and loving. Cultural (compentancy) responsiveness isn’t a bonus it’s the baseline. In mental health care, outcomes are closely tied to trust, connection, and understanding. For many Black clients, working with therapists who reflect their identity or demonstrate deep cultural competence can significantly improve engagement, honesty in sessions, and overall treatment completion. This is not about preference. It is about effectiveness. Traditional White owned mental health service providers in out communities need to take note and be part of the solution.

Most coaches don’t lack visibility. They lack conversations. Posting doesn’t create clients. Talking to people does. Social media can support the process, but it will never replace actually meeting people, inviting connection, and coaching in real time. This is the order most coaches get wrong. #CoachingBusiness #ClientAcquisition #CoachGrowth #BusinessStrategy #OnlineCoaching #TheAmandaKaufmanShow

Deep listening means not expecting to hear anything, commenting or formulating a solution. It means listening for the mere purpose of affirming back what you heard. The trust that follows makes everything else you have to say so much easier. Think how that plays out with teenagers, in selling, is conflict resolution, in change management. Just start with repeating back what you heard.

Many coaches believe they need better scripts to close clients. What they really need are better questions. A well-placed question creates clarity, surfaces truth, and invites ownership. It shifts the conversation from persuasion to partnership. This is exactly how professional coaching is meant to work. When you ask questions that help a client name the cost of staying stuck or the benefit of change, decisions become easier. This aligns with ICF competencies around evoking awareness and facilitating client growth. Great questions do the heavy lifting because they help the client sell themselves on the work. Speeches create resistance. Questions create insight. If you want faster, cleaner yes decisions, sharpen the questions you ask, not the pitch you deliver. What question could you ask that would change the direction of your next conversation? #ICFCoaching #ProfessionalCoach #CoachingSales #ExecutiveCoaching #PowerfulQuestions #CoachingBusiness #Accountability

Most coaches don’t have a value problem. They have a visibility problem. They’re doing great work. Helping clients grow. Improving operations. But clients can’t clearly see the financial impact. So what happens? • Fees get questioned • Clients drift • Growth slows Not because the value isn’t there… but because it’s not being proven. The shift is simple: When you can show a client where $50K+ in hidden profit is coming from… Everything changes. • Pricing gets easier • Retention improves • Conversations shift from cost → investment That’s the difference between: Coaches who struggle to scale Advisors who get paid what they’re worth If you’re a coach, accountant, or consultant and want a better way to demonstrate real ROI: https://lnkd.in/g-iVtKV2 What’s the biggest challenge you face when trying to show your value to clients? #ReinventYourself #SecondActSuccess #CareerTransition #Over50Careers
