Looking forward to this executive seminar with my colleague J. Bryan Bennett, MBA, LSSGB, CPA Leadership misalignment is rarely loud at first. It shows up quietly as culture friction, slower execution, eroding trust, and talented people choosing to disengage or leave. Left unchecked, those small fractures compound into real organizational costs: turnover, lost productivity, stalled initiatives, and reputational damage. Many of the leadership challenges organizations struggle with are not capability issues. They are alignment issues. The hard questions leaders must ask are: 1) What signals are we ignoring in our culture? 2) Where is leadership behavior unintentionally creating drag? 3) What is the cost of waiting to address it? Early intervention is far less costly than repair, yet few leadership teams create the space for honest reflection and recalibration. 🧭 Leadership Reality Priority is rarely lost in theory. It is lost in practice. Shea Dempsey works with leaders navigating layered responsibilities where competing demands arrive simultaneously. Dominic Kayatta supports leaders refining communication and decision-making under pressure, where clarity must be maintained even as variables shift quickly. Different environments, same breakdown. When pressure increases, leaders do not abandon priorities intentionally. Instead, their perception shifts toward what is most immediate, visible, or politically sensitive. What was once clearly important becomes diluted among competing signals. Pressure changes what leaders can see, and what they see determines what they choose. Over time, teams learn to follow the same pattern, elevating urgency over importance without needing to be told. One practice we always use when facilitating or running a meeting is something called “Transfer-In.” Before we move into strategy, discussion, or problem-solving, we pause. The purpose of a transfer-in is simple: To reconnect with ourselves, with one another, and with the collective purpose in the room. It shifts people from doing mode into listening mode and that shift is critical for creating psychological safety and meaningful co-creation. We use our LuminUS intuitive cards to guide this process (though there are many ways to do it). Participants draw a card from the centre of the circle and respond to a question connected to the session’s purpose. One example could be: “What does the card you picked reveal about why you chose to participate in this session?” We always tailor the question to the intention of the gathering. The word or image on the card becomes a reflective prompt which can help people surface insights that might otherwise remain unspoken. What happens next is subtle but powerful. Trust begins to build. Meaning enters the room. People speak from a place that feels more human and intentional than in a traditional meeting. Participants are invited to share at the level of trust already present. No pressure. No overexposure. Just enough honesty for the room. And it’s always the right amount. Sometimes the most strategic thing we can do is slow down before we speed up. The Case for Self-Leadership Over Personality-Driven Guidance Over four decades in leadership development and higher education, I’ve observed a consistent pattern: Transformation is not transferred; it is developed. Sustainable growth requires structured reflection, disciplined inquiry, and personal responsibility. It cannot be outsourced to personality or charisma. 😊 Frameworks help. Community helps. Guidance helps. Dependency does not! My work focuses on building the capacity for self-leadership, not creating followers. Lasting change occurs when individuals strengthen their ability to think clearly, regulate emotion, act ethically, and take responsibility for their own direction. The goal is not influence. It is personal agency! 👏

Failures don’t just teach us what went wrong: they reveal who we were in the moment we made the decision. The emotional state behind the failure is often the real lesson: • Were we overwhelmed? • Moving too quickly? • Afraid of disappointing others? • Carrying stress from home into work? Most failures aren’t about intelligence or skill. They’re about emotional load. The invisible pressure shaping our choices. When leaders create space to reflect on the why behind the mistake, they don’t just prevent the next failure… they strengthen clarity, resilience, and self-awareness across the team. This is the real right kind of wrong: When a failure becomes a mirror instead of a verdict.

Really excited to be sharing this opportunity with my Sydney network. Alignment is my theme for 2026 and this workshop sits right at the centre of that. I'm thrilled to be partnering with two amazing ladies, Cathy Dimarchos and Marcela Acosta who both bring a unique and powerful perspective to the table around conscious decision-making and the collective impact and wisdom of conscious collaboration (among other things). I'm focussing on boundaries in my session because a lack of boundaries is typically one of the obvious symptoms of mis-alignment in someone's life. All too often, I find myself coaching women who are either in severe burnout or on the verge of it and when I dig deeper, I find a common theme of people pleasing and filling everyone else's bucket before their own.
