My team and I have been assessing ICF performance evaluations since 2012, guiding leaders and coaches toward ACC, PCC, and MCC certification. What exactly is a Level 2 Bridge Program? A Level 2 bridge program exists for one very specific reason. To support certified coaches in earning their PCC credential without repeating foundational training they’ve already completed. If you are ACC credentialed or you’ve finished a Level 1 or ACSTH program and you’re actively coaching, you don’t need to start over. What you do need is support bridging into PCC level coaching. "What did you feel? Why did you do it? How will you change it?" You just asked three questions in a row. Your client is now entirely overwhelmed. The ICF calls this "Question Stacking." And the ACC exam will penalize you heavily for it. When coaches get nervous, they talk too much. They throw two or three questions at the client, hoping one of them is the "right" one. But Competency 7 (Evokes Awareness) demands clarity. On the exam, if an answer choice features a coach asking multiple questions without pausing... it is the "Worst" answer. A master coach asks one clear, concise question. Then, they shut up. Stop firing a machine gun of questions. Start using a sniper rifle. The coaching industry has exploded in the last decade. This is both a good thing, and a bad thing, in my opinion. A good thing, because our world could certainly use more of a coaching-based approach. A bad thing, because the word "coaching" is often used very loosely —often without training, credentials, or (importantly) a foundation of what it means to uphold standards and ethics in this field. One thing I really like about this new coach training and certification program from Trio Coaching Academy is that it a) is based on ICF core competencies, and b) clearly states the models and frameworks that it is built on. The current pricing is a steal.
