Dominique Hollins shared thisBook Launch Announcement! "Leading from Within: A Conscious Leadership Collective" is out NOW! Four years ago, I wrote a book and it was trash🚮. I never published the 12 chapters I spent 2 years writing. Why? Because I was writing what I thought people wanted to hear versus what I really wanted to say. The more I wrote, the more my insides turned. My intuition was telling me..."this ain't it, sis. Who is this, sis?!" So, I laid that book to rest. R.I.P Imposter! ⚰️ It's taken many years to peel away from some of the toxic traits that drive corporate profits. Like many enthusiastic and well-meaning employees, I found myself conforming to maintain status, wealth, and health insurance. Eventually, I didn't like that reflection in the mirror much and I couldn't do it anymore. For the last five years, I've maintained my own company according to my own rules. Fast forward to April 2025, I received a phone call from Chantée Christian MBA, PMP, CCMP, PCC asking if I would be a contributor to an upcoming book: "Leading from Within: A Conscious Leadership Collective". She encouraged me to channel my voice and share my truth the way I did in my personal 1:1s with leaders. My chapter reflects some of what I learned during my transition from corporate monetization to personal transformation. I said, "I don't have any business writing a book while in a masters program, but YES!!" I'm proud to announce that in seven days since our launch, we became an Amazon Bestseller— ✨ #2 in Personal Success & Spirituality ✨ #3 in Self-Help (New Age Religion) ✨ #5 in Business Mentoring & Coaching ✨ #6 in Personal Transformation & Spirituality ✨ #10 in Motivational Growth & Spirituality ✨ AND in more categories! And yes… we even outranked Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Dalai Lama for a couple of days!! Most importantly, we’ve already raised over $1,000 for IBIM Girls, with 100% of proceeds continuing through January 10, 2026. The more books we sell, the more we can donate to this impactful organization. Our Invitation to You: 📖 Grab your copy of "Leading From Within", today: https://amzn.to/494M8i3. ⭐️ Leave a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads ⚡ Tag us on your post, repost, and shares hashtag #LeadingFromWithin I can't wait to hear your feedback!

Dominique Hollins reposted thisDominique Hollins reposted thisEarly in my career, a leader once told me he was shocked by how much confidence I had. I only had a few years of experience, and to him, that confidence felt out of place or unnecessary. The words hurt but the tone cut into the dark meat. He said it in a sharp, negative way. He wanted me shrink myself down to fit the role he thought I belonged in. I remember calling my mom and telling her what happened and in her Midwestern Black Mama "who looked at my baby the wrong way" tone she said "Don’t let people stop you from having the audacity to create and live the life you want. Live with audacity.” I’ve kept that advice in my back pocket everywhere I go. Because the truth is: Supporters will encourage your audacity. Haters will try to erase it. Frenemies will try to take it. It’s not money, titles, or even years of experience that creates professional stability. It’s the audacity to keep dreaming, asking, and moving toward what you deserve even when people and systems try to take things from you. So today, I’ll remind you the same way my mom reminded me: Don’t let anyone take away your audacity. Your audacity will literally set you free. Stay hydrated. Stay lotion-ed. Mind the business that pays you.

It’s not just about being self-aware; it’s about being able to exercise emotional intelligence to guide and inspire others, no matter the circumstances. With the recent changes affecting Washington, DC, and the federal workforce, we know that leadership is often tested in times of adversity. Leadership isn’t created during ideal times; it’s curated during the tough moments that shape us. We’ve heard from many people who want to attend the CLS, but are cautious due to the current climate. Dominique Hollins shared this📣 Important information about DEI-related discrimination at work. I encourage everyone to try and download as many government documents as possible before they are changed or no longer available. I downloaded the documents David Glasgow shares in this post and recently, the U.S. Constitution.....just in case.Dominique Hollins shared thisToday, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Department of Justice released two documents relating to "unlawful DEI-related discrimination": 1. A one-pager on "What To Do If You Experience Discrimination Related to DEI at Work"; and 2. A longer Q&A on "What You Should Know About DEI-Related Discrimination at Work." These documents give a window into how this administration is likely to interpret and enforce the federal law that most directly affects workplace DEI: Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The documents unsurprisingly take a broad view of what forms of DEI are unlawful, and omit some important nuances. However, I think it's notable that even this vehemently anti-DEI administration appears to acknowledge that many forms of DEI remain lawful (emphasis added): "DEI policies, programs, or practices MAY be unlawful IF they involve an employer or other covered entity taking an employment action motivated—in whole or in part—by an employee's race, sex, or another protected characteristic." That definition leaves plenty of diversity, equity, and inclusion work firmly on the table. Read the full documents at the links below. https://lnkd.in/g3divicm https://lnkd.in/gVqqvBTV

Dominique Hollins shared thisUnapologetically Celebrating Black History Month Before #DEI was whitewashed, it more closely reflected Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, one of the most influential pieces of legislation in American history. The Civil Rights Movement helped to inspire: ❇️ Cesar Chavez's Labor Movement and the United Farm Workers (UFW), ❇️ The Women's Rights Movement via the National Organization for Women (NOW), ❇️ LGBTQIA+ Movements including the Stonewall uprising, ❇️ The American Indian Movement (AIM), ❇️ The Disability Rights Movement... ...all of which were once protected by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), which was created through Title VII. Notice how these movements mirror many of your employee resource groups (ERGs), which were first created just 6 years after this legislation. Ironically, the EEOC website currently features a picture of the newly appointed chair. RIP EEOC. Read her press release—it would be funny if this wasn't real life. Black people were at the forefront the civil rights movement and continue to pave the way for the rights of others, while our rights continue to be delayed and denied. Today, it is my honor to remember my ancestors, civil rights leaders past and present, truth seekers, justice advocates, and freedom fighters by speaking truth to power when history demands it. That time is now. Read my take on the lie, #MEI. Dominique Hollins reacted on thisDominique Hollins reacted on thisEvery morning, I wake up and check my phone. Not for emails. Not for meetings. I check on my family. I check if they made it through the night in Lebanon. Then I turn to the news here in the U.S. Two different realities. Both deeply personal. And then… I start my workday. I show up to meetings. I ask people how they are. I smile when the moment calls for it. I stay present. But the weight doesn’t disappear. It travels with me. And I know I’m not alone in this. Across the world, people are carrying realities that don’t stay at home. They show up in our meetings. In our decisions. In our silence. And when someone pauses and asks, “How are you, really?” It matters more than we realize. Because leadership today is not just about performance. It’s about recognizing the human experience behind it. This is the conversation I was built to bring into organizations. It's called "The Intersection of Inclusion" and it starts exactly here. Because the question is no longer: Should we talk about what’s happening in the world? The question is: How do we lead when the world is already in the room? #Leadership #FutureOfWork #WorkplaceCulture #InclusiveLeadership #HumanLeadership #BelongingAtWork #PsychologicalSafety #DEI #ExecutiveLeadership #OrganizationalCulture

Dominique Hollins reacted on thisJulie Pham, PhD – thank you for naming "Leading From Within" in this year’s Leadership Book List by Black Authors. In a moment where the language of equity is being scrutinized, diluted, and at times dismantled, intentional amplification matters. Curation is leadership. Visibility is leadership. Choosing to expand who we read is an act of design. To see this work included among more than 270 Black-authored leadership books is both humbling and affirming. It signals that the stories, frameworks, and lived leadership experiences we poured into those pages are landing where they are meant to. Grateful for the care CuriosityBased continues to take in shaping how leadership is defined and who gets to define it. And congratulations to James and Kristen on Reimagine Equity. Starting with “We love you” is not naïve. It is bold. The work continues.Dominique Hollins reacted on thisToday is the official release of "Reimagine Equity: Leading Strategically to Fulfill the Promise of DEI" by James Whitfield and Kristen Whitfield, co-founders of Be Culture. As first-time authors, they’ve made a meaningful contribution to the leadership field. https://lnkd.in/g5kSwgeG Writing about diversity, equity, and inclusion feels especially bold right now. DEI is under attack. Funding for related programs continues to be pulled back. At times, it can feel like there is more division than understanding in our world. And yet, their book begins with the words: “We love you.” A Valentine’s Day launch feels especially fitting. The book lives up to its promise. After reading it, I genuinely feel that “equity” has been reimagined for me. "Reimagine Equity" is one of 278 books on this year’s Leadership Book List by Black Authors, which we create to help celebrate Black History Month. This marks CuriosityBased's fifth year researching and curating leadership book lists for heritage and history months. We believe that to enrich how we lead, we need to expand who we read. We also expand how we define leadership, which is why the list includes memoirs alongside traditional leadership texts. This list is not exhaustive. The CuriosityBased team works to grow it each year, and we welcome recommendations for next year’s update. 📚 Check out the full list here: https://lnkd.in/gZ6HAWkq If you think this list is valuable, please share it so these authors receive the attention they deserve. #BlackHistoryMonth #LeadershipBooks #ExpandWhoWeRead #EnrichHowWeLead #EquityInLeadership #dei #diversityequityinclusion #books #leadershipbooks #memoirs Leadership Eastside Banner: 2026 Banner of Leadership Books by Black Authors, including Jesse Rhodes, Jr. Chantée Christian MBA, PMP, CCMP, PCC Dyana Langley-Robinson, MBA Robert Britten Charles Booker Susana MorrisCelebrating Black History Month with 278 Leadership Books + a Powerful New ReleaseCelebrating Black History Month with 278 Leadership Books + a Powerful New ReleaseJulie Pham, PhD

Dominique Hollins reacted on thisDominique Hollins reacted on thisAre you in the US? Consider taking some time this week to pause from doing business as usual — because it sure as heck isn't business as usual out there. We are at a crisis point when it comes to state-sponsored violence and intimidation. Unless you have been cut off from all communications, you are probably already aware that ICE has been executing, maiming, sexually assaulting, kidnapping, unlawfully deporting, and disappearing US civilians. It is a grotesque, unlawful, and unconstitutional overreach of ICE's scope of duties. Targets include small children and other minors, immigrants who have followed all the rules, and US citizens behaving peacefully. If unchecked, the next steps are likely to be more militarized force and violence. Pretending and talking like it is business as usual will not make this go away. _____ So what can you do? There is always something you can do. 1. Write to or call your representatives and give them a call to action as your constituent. Today I am writing to mine with a call for impeachment. I send a separate email for every call to action. If you're not sure what to write, other people have done research for you. Different legislators are motivated in different ways. Someone out there is a political nerd and has posted suggestions on social media about your state and representatives. 5 Calls also has scripts (they are long, you can cut down to main points). 2. Find mutual aid and support systems and donate. Right now Minnesota is an area of need. Even a $5 donation adds up if enough people give. Link to a directory is in the comments. 3. Talk to friends and family about what is going on. As an anthropologist, let me tell you that social judgment, social shaming, and ostracism are powerful tools. Genuinely powerful! Talking openly about what you think is and isn't acceptable can be part of a tide that turns. A note of caution: If you aren't Black or Native American/Indigenous, be careful with how you talk about the present-day violence. This kind of state-run violence might be new to you, but it has been the ongoing reality for Black and Native people for more than 400 and more than 500 years respectively. Good luck out there! It is a very strange time to be working on regular office things, doing professional development, trying to sell things, and doing business development.

Not because the education isn't world-class: Because Stanford just released all their flagship AI and Machine Learning courses for free on YouTube. Our VP of Research and Learning Science Matthew Jensen Hays, Ph.D. just shared some counterintuitive findings from Psychonomics that challenge what most of us assume about effective learning. Turns out, what feels right to learners often isn't, and what feels difficult might be exactly what works. Maybe it's time to rethink how we design learning experiences. I just wrapped up two incredible days at the Association for Talent Development (ATD) OrgDev Conference, alongside some of my fellow ICF Houston Chapter Board Members. The conversations were eye-opening. Across industries, organizational and talent development leaders shared what’s keeping them up at night. Here are a few of the most common challenges I heard 👇🏾 ✅ Frontline employees don’t see a clear path to leadership opportunities ✅ Development programs lack succession planning at the supervisor and manager levels ✅ Budget constraints are hurting initiatives, especially for small and midsize companies ✅ Measuring effectiveness is still tough for many teams ✅ Organizations focus on stock training, not tailored development ✅ Many want specialized external help but can’t justify the spend ✅ And while AI is powerful, it can’t fix culture or leadership clarity (yet) These conversations confirmed that effective development initiatives require mindset and culture transformation before training adoption and effectiveness can be considered. When employees see growth modeled, feedback is valued, opportunities are made visible, engagement, performance, and retention rise together. At BrightMind Consulting Group, we’re helping organizations do just that — through fractional Chief Learning Officer (CLO) partnerships, coaching, and emotionally intelligent leadership programs that turn these insights into measurable outcomes. Too many organizations wait until challenges become blazing fires before they act. The most successful organizations invest early and understand that being reactive can 10x—100x investment needs. Successful organizations build systems that grow with their people, not against them. Let's talk if your organization is ready to shift from reactive to proactive development. 💬 I’m curious: what’s the biggest talent or organizational development challenge you’re navigating right now? #OrgDev #LeadershipDevelopment #LearningAndDevelopment #CultureTransformation #Coaching #FractionalCLO #EmotionalIntelligence #HRLeadership #ATDOrgDev #BrightMindConsultingGroup

HR's Role in Times of Unpredicted Crisis The recent flash floods that tragically impacted our communities just north of San Antonio have been a stark reminder of how quickly life can change. While the internet is abuzz with discussions about causes and accountability, my focus, as an HR professional, is on how we respond and support our employees during such devastating, unpredicted crises. When disaster strikes, the usual priorities shift. As HR, we're often tasked with maintaining business continuity, but our most crucial role becomes supporting the human element. Having personally navigated the aftermath of previous floods with affected employees, I know firsthand the delicate balance of empathy and operational needs. Prioritizing Empathy and Flexibility In the face of loss and disruption, a message of genuine empathy from leadership and HR means more than any policy or procedure. It's about acknowledging the unimaginable grief and stress many are experiencing. This translates into tangible actions like: Understanding and Flexibility: Allowing employees the time and space they need to be with their families, grieve, or manage personal emergencies. This might mean adjusting schedules, offering remote work options, or simply understanding that productivity may be lower for a period. Creating a Supportive Environment: Recognizing that employees may be operating with low energy or emotional strain. Fostering a compassionate work environment where people feel safe to express their feelings and receive support. Proactive Support and Resource Access This is also a critical time to be proactive in reminding employees of the resources available to them. Many benefits and support systems, while introduced during onboarding, can easily be forgotten in the day-to-day. Now is the time to highlight: Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs): If you have one, they generally cover counseling and support for a wide range of personal and work-related issues, including grief, stress, and trauma. Pitching your EAP aggressively and reiterating its benefits is crucial. Community Involvement: As an organization, contributing to local relief efforts not only aids those affected but also provides a sense of purpose and collective action for employees who are looking for ways to help. This can foster a sense of unity and shared responsibility within the company. A Chance to Reconnect with Our Purpose While it's not an "opportunity" in the traditional sense, these crises serve as a powerful reminder of our core purpose in HR: to support our people. They offer a chance to reinforce the values of compassion, flexibility, and community within our organizations. By prioritizing employee well-being and actively offering support, we not only help our teams navigate unimaginable challenges but also strengthen the bonds of trust and loyalty within our workplaces.
