Last week, we hosted more than 50 career services leaders from across the country for a full day of discussion, best practices, and benchmarking, with an agenda based entirely on feedback we received from registrants prior to the event. Overall, more than half of Job Outlook 2026 survey respondents expect to offer signing bonuses to college Class of 2026 hires, with 47% of that cohort planning to offer bonuses to all candidates. https://buff.ly/SFvu4vF

Equal Pay Day reflects the pay disparity between men and women by being held on the day that women must work until to earn what men earn on January 1. This year, today is that day, as women working full-time earn only 81% of what a man working the same job does, according to research done by AAUW . According to respondents to our annual Student Survey, this discrepancy begins at graduation, with women who graduate college earning, on average, about 83% of what men do when first entering the workforce. Our research also shows that men, on average, receive more job offers and are more likely to find a job related to their degree. Fortunately, there are simple steps that both employers and colleges can take to eventually eliminate this pay gap. For employers, including salary information with all job postings will ensure equal pay for equal work and not asking for salary history during the hiring process will prevent the possibility of exasperating prior pay discrepancies. Prior to entering the workforce, career staff should explain to students about the pay gap and provide networking/mentorship opportunities for them to engage with professionals and prepare for the hiring process.
