💰How much of your L&D budget is driving real business impact? For over a century, research on the forgetting curve has consistently shown that people forget about 70% of new knowledge within a month. Link to the science in the comments below. Training completions and participant feedback are easy to track. But they don't measure what really matters: whether the training is making a lasting impact. Measuring real knowledge retention is the next step after measuring training completions. It's crucial for understanding training effectiveness and bridging the gap to application and business outcomes. Most organizations stop at tracking the completions because the steps beyond this are really time-consuming and manual. In a one-month pilot, you can validate whether it's possible to elevate your training measurement without adding new tools for employees. Discover what content is retained and applied using research-based, personalized nudges in Slack or Teams. Let's discuss a pilot to see how you can measure and improve knowledge retention in your organization. #LearningAndDevelopment #HRTech #EmployeeTraining

Someone, somewhere is right now tabbed out of an online training session at work, just to get it over with. A recent study from the US measured phishing training only having an impact on the behavior of 2% of the trainees. But this is for mandatory, need-to-get-it-over-with training only. Right? Maybe, but most organizations don't have the data to claim either way. Every good sales pitch needs to include some popular, well-cited number to back up its claims. Ours is that people forget 70% of any kind of new knowledge within a month. Without follow-ups and repetition, most time spent on learning is lost. Our pilots in organizations aim to test this: Do people really forget that much, and if they do, how much of that forgotten knowledge can be recovered? Let's discuss how we can help you measure and improve knowledge retention in your organization.

Ever wrestled with a system for hours and got nowhere? 🥴 It's the sort of thing that happens at the start of a new role. Workers there are so used to the system that they believe it's intuitive, and sometimes don't bother to train someone properly. "Oh, it's easy, you'll pick it up!". Sigh. Moments like that are both frustrating and costly. Too often, businesses only measure the visible spend on platforms, with certain budgets allocated to platforms, licences, online courses... When people don't get the training they need, the real costs are hidden in plain sight. Wasted time, lost productivity, mistakes, disengagement, conflict in the workplace, and even unhappy customers. I've read sources that suggest businesses lose around $13.5 million per 1,000 employees every year because their training isn't effective. Wow. If you like stats, here's another mind-blower: nearly 40% of under-trained staff leave within their first year. Well, would you stay somewhere you didn't know what you were doing? On the flip side, when people feel supported and equipped, they perform better, stick around longer and deliver better service. In fact, 94% of employees say they'd stay longer at a company that invests in their development. 💪🏼 The facts show the apparent benefits, and it's something I've always believed. Quality training shouldn't be viewed as just another expense; it's actually a really smart saving, and one that any company can make. What's the biggest hidden cost of poor training that you've seen? Let me know in the comments. 👇🏼 #investinlearning #LandD #learninganddevelopment

🧠 We can’t apply what we can’t remember. Yet, most training programs focus on completion rates, not knowledge retention—leading to: ❌ Low retention = low application ❌ Costly errors, rework and disciplinary issues ❌ Low morale, disengagement, and higher employee turnover 💡 The fix? Measure what matters - knowledge levels: 🔹 Real-time knowledge retention data to close gaps before they impact performance 🔹 Proactive skills development that keeps employees confident and engaged 🔹 A shift from tick-box training to transformational knowledge management 📉 Companies that get this right see lower turnover, fewer errors, and stronger business outcomes. How is your organisation measuring knowledge to maximise training impact?
