Yesterday, The BCI USA Chapter hosted their monthly Resilience & Continuity workshop. Our guest speaker was Jason Hoss who presented on #AI. Jason walked us through how AI can be used to: -Facilitate BIA’s -Create engaging TTX scenarios/videos -Prepare for interviews -Research while accounting for possible bias -AI tools walkthrough: #Claude, #NotebookLM, #Pictory, #Gemini, #Chapgpt -How AI can support #BCMS & #Goverance What I enjoyed the most was learning about the functionality of each AI tool, and how to leverage multiple tools to create engaging products. It was also great learning how AI can be used to streamline BC workflows and create exciting TTX’s. Thanks Jason for making the time to advance our knowledge on this critical subject. REMI production isn't a fad, it's the future. And the positive impact is just getting started. Before COVID, REMI (Remote Integration) and cloud workflows were being tested in small pockets across the industry. The pandemic forced widespread adoption, but for many, it was viewed as a temporary solution, just something to get through the crisis. At BMG, we never saw it that way. We believed then—and even more today—that REMI and cloud production wasn’t a stopgap, but a paradigm shift. COVID accelerated the timeline, pushing the industry at least five years ahead. Since then, we’ve been at the forefront of defining what scalable, cloud-based live production can really look like. Some thought REMI would fade out, others believed it only made sense for small productions, but we knew its potential was limitless and invested heavily in it. We’ve spent the last five years building a fully integrated REMI infrastructure, synthesizing tools, workflows, and vendor partnerships into a system that’s not only reliable, but scalable at the highest level. From a proprietary transmissions path to Multiview optimizations to decentralized staffing models, redundancy, and commutations, we’ve worked to harmonize every piece of the puzzle. And this past weekend, it all came together. We produced one of the largest REMI Broadcast for Blue Origin’s NS-32 mission. 31 cameras captured including, drones, robotic and tracking cameras launch-day coverage from two locations: Launch Site One in West Texas and Blue Origin’s HQ in Kent, Washington. Every feed flowed directly into our Network Operations Center in Washington, D.C., where our team produced the show in real time. The entire production was managed using BMG’s private cloud infrastructure. No shortcuts. No compromises. Just a seamless, fully remote production that pushed the boundaries of what REMI can be. It felt effortless because we've spent years engineering it to be. The evolution of REMI and cloud production is far from over. You will see the largest of productions moving toward this workflow due to access to talent, the redundancy that cloud infrastructure provides, production quality, environmental impact, and cost. Alabama's New Sales Tax Law: A Step Backward for Compliance Simplicity Alabama just made sales tax compliance significantly more complex for businesses. On May 27, Governor Kay Ivy signed HB 191, altering how sales tax exemptions work across the state. Under the new law, state-level exemptions no longer automatically apply to local jurisdictions. Instead, Alabama's 500+ cities and counties must individually decide whether to adopt similar exemptions through specific local ordinances or resolutions. Each locality that chooses to adopt an exemption must do so with a September 1 effective date, and they're required to report these decisions to the Alabama Department of Revenue for publication by the previous July. Alabama already has one of the most complex local tax structures in the nation. Localities could already set different rates for motor vehicles, agricultural items, groceries, manufacturing equipment, and various other categories. While states should be working toward streamlined sales tax systems, Alabama is moving in the opposite direction. Uniformity between state and local tax bases isn't just convenient – it's essential for manageable compliance.
