A deadline is getting closer for higher education institutions. By April 2026, public colleges and universities need their digital content to meet accessibility standards under WCAG. On paper it sounds manageable. In practice it touches years of content across: • Course materials, PDFs, and slide decks • Lecture videos and captions • LMS content and assignments • Department websites and student portals Many institutions already know about the requirement. The challenge now is scale. Thousands of courses. Decades of content. A short runway to get it compliant. Onboarding is often treated like an administrative step. In reality, it’s one of the most important moments in the employee lifecycle. The first few weeks shape how someone understands their role, their team, and the organization itself. Done well, onboarding builds confidence, accelerates productivity, and helps employees feel connected to the mission from day one. Done poorly, it creates confusion, slows performance, and can lead to early disengagement. What many organizations are realizing is that onboarding isn’t just orientation. It’s a structured learning experience. The most effective programs combine clear role expectations, practical skill development, and exposure to the systems and processes employees will rely on every day.
