ETZ Ltd is delighted to share that our Quarterly Update is now available. In this edition, we outline key advancements across the Energy Transition Zone and highlight regional progress as we continue to support our world-class supply chain and regional partners. North East Scotland has once again been identified as a preferred location for major offshore renewables investment, this time for the Bowdun Offshore Wind Farm. ETZ Ltd has secured significant additional funding to strengthen our leadership, while Scotland’s First Minister has reaffirmed the region as the destination of choice for developing energy skills.

Supporting the North East of Scotland's transition to become the Net Zero Energy Capital of Europe
About us
The North East of Scotland has a clear ambition to transform into a globally recognised and integrated energy cluster, focussed on accelerating net-zero through energy transition activities. The unrivalled critical mass of skills, experience and infrastructure, drawing upon 50 years of operating a world class oil and gas sector, means Aberdeen is ideally placed within the UK to deliver a world-leading energy transition zone. ETZ Ltd is a private sector led, not for profit company created to drive forward the vision of transforming the North East of Scotland to become a global leader in energy transition activities and a net exporter of energy transition technologies and skills. At the core of ETZ Ltd is the ambition to deliver the Energy Transition Zone, a purpose-built net zero green space, connected to the coastline and adjacent to the £420m deepwater harbour development at Aberdeen South Harbour. This 70-hectare space will be a leading-edge catalyst for innovation and high value manufacturing, a centre of excellence for offshore floating wind and other offshore renewables, for hydrogen and for carbon capture and storage.

Sir Ian Wood and Martin Gilbert built globally recognised companies from modest roots in Aberdeen. They are the living definition of Scottish business success stories. Both have forgotten more about business than most of us will ever know. Both recognise the potential for city and wider region to become a global leader in offshore renewables when they are commercially available. Both make clear that we can only reach that destination if we have the world-class skills and company base in tact when they are. Both are calling on the UK Government to end the punitive windfall tax, reverse its position on licensing and approve projects…without delay. The UK Government must listen, and act now. Thousands of livelihoods depend on them doing so. Keir Starmer Rt Hon Rachel Reeves
