Robin Hunt さんが「いいね!」しましたRobin Hunt さんが「いいね!」しましたAfter 30 years at Nissan, yesterday was my final day as I transition into retirement. So grateful to have worked alongside so many talented individuals over the years, and the great accomplishments we achieved as a team. Also very fortunate to have been able to travel across the globe and experience a wide range of countries and cultures. Fitting that there would be such an amazing sunset while heading out. Will take with me the friendships and memories into my next adventures.

Robin Hunt さんが「いいね!」しましたRobin Hunt さんが「いいね!」しました"History repeat itself" 👇 Volkswagen is considering entering the defense industry, with CEO Oliver Blume exploring military equipment production opportunities amid #Europe's increased defense spending. This potential shift comes as the company faces automotive sector challenges, including a 15% operating profit decline in 2024 and weak electric vehicle demand. Blume indicates Volkswagen is studying defense industry needs, from consultancy to military vehicle manufacturing. This aligns with #EU's planned €870 billion defense investment over four years. The company may repurpose facilities like its Osnabrück plant, which has attracted interest from Rheinmetall now a higher-valued defense firm. The initiative remains exploratory, with Blume noting that defense #industry demands will guide any transition. While #Volkswagen's vehicle #manufacturing expertise could support this shift, no specific projects have been confirmed yet. Alagan.Partners Nicolas Michelon

Robin Hunt さんが「いいね!」しましたRobin Hunt さんが「いいね!」しましたAs we adjust our pace to the demands of a fast-changing world, all industries are facing fundamental challenges and one is productivity. From such challenges arise opportunities and they lead to disruptive ideas. There is no doubt that Artificial Intelligence may be one of the top disruptive technologies that changes the way we adapt and react. For example, in the auto industry, as we focus more on innovations in software-defined vehicles, AI can help us save time, efforts and resources. During my recent visit to the US, I had the opportunity to discuss with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella about AI and how the latest technologies like ChatGPT can help improve efficiency, performance and productivity. I appreciate the insightful conversation very much and would like to thank Satya and his team for their warm hospitality! #ArtificialIntelligence #DigitalTransformation #Nissan

🔋 Vietnam Accelerates E-Mobility: A Wake-Up Call for Legacy OEMs Vietnam’s plan to restrict gas-powered two-wheelers in Hanoi by 2026, with a citywide phase-out by 2030, is more than a local policy — it’s a powerful signal of how emerging markets will leapfrog into electrified urban mobility. 🚨 For Honda, which holds over 70% of Vietnam’s motorbike market, the challenge is strategic: fast-track the transition or risk losing relevance. 🚀 For VinFast, already controlling 43% of the e-motorbike segment, it’s a first-mover advantage — built on domestic production, government alignment, and a growing battery-swapping network. Key Takeaways: 1️⃣ Regulatory shifts are creating inflection points — not just incentives, but hard bans. 2️⃣ Vertical integration wins — from manufacturing to infrastructure to digital platforms. 3️⃣ Affordability, service, and trust matter more than specs — especially in two-wheeler-dependent economies. 📍 Vietnam is showing how policy + industrial execution can reshape mobility markets in just 3–5 years. For global OEMs, it’s a reminder: electrification success depends not only on R&D, but on system-level adaptation and local ecosystem mastery. #EVStrategy #TwoWheelers #Honda #VinFast #UrbanMobility #MobilityTransformation #EmergingMarkets #BatterySwapping #Ebike #SmartCities #Electrification #PolicyDrivenInnovation #SoutheastAsia #SustainableTransport #OEMLeadership

Read the Q&A of my recent interview with Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa here at Automotive News. YOKOHAMA, Japan — Ivan Espinosa parachuted into the CEO position in April just as Nissan Motor Co.’s earnings were cratering and the Japanese carmaker was bracing for a big tariff hit. Now, he is speeding through the Re:Nissan revival plan he unveiled in May to slash ¥500 billion ($3.2 billion) in costs, shutter seven of 17 global factories, cut about 20,000 jobs and reduce production capacity to an estimated 2.5 million to 3 million vehicles in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2028. Tariffs are throwing up a headwind. The duties are expected to chop ¥275 billion ($1.8 billion) off its operating profit this fiscal year. One silver lining, however, is they have transformed Nissan’s assembly plants in Smyrna, Tenn., and Canton, Miss., into important assets from onetime liabilities. Espinosa’s revised U.S. manufacturing strategy shows how tariffs can create competitive advantages for automakers with domestic capacity and reveals specific tactics other manufacturers and suppliers can adopt to capitalize on similar policy shifts. Nissan retained a shift at Smyrna originally marked for elimination, maximized U.S.-built product over Mexican imports and improved profitability through retail versus fleet rebalancing. Espinosa sat with Asia Editor Hans Greimel on Nov. 13 to share his plan for weathering tariffs, explain how he expects to grow sales again from 2026 and unveil his vision for building a full lineup of hybrids. Here are edited excerpts. Q: Where will Nissan sales finish in the U.S. market this year? A: This year, we’re basically flat, and we’re expecting to keep performing well in the retail side. We have reprioritized the mix of our business for two reasons. First, the tariffs came in, so the low end of our product that is coming from Mexico, we had to adjust the car flow. The volume was reduced, and we were focusing more on U.S.-built product. So, what does that do to the profit? It’s actually better. The overall mix is better. The second is the mix between retail and fleet. We are focusing a lot more on healthy retail business. And we have almost one point of market share growth versus last year, which is a good trend, and we have reduced also the fleet. There’s healthy fleet, which we still want to participate on, but we’ve been a bit more selective on the fleet deals that we get.Year over year, retail is 5 percent up in the absolute, and fleet is 14 percent down. How about managing push versus pull while incentivizing sales? We are not chasing crazy volumes. We’re managing the car flow very strictly. We have also very good performance in terms of dealer inventory, gradually coming down to much healthier levels. We had a very good model-year change. We very quickly cleaned up the outgoing Rogue and brought in the new model year of Rogue on time with a very smooth shift.

This morning in Redmond (my new home 😊), I had the pleasure of meeting with executives from a Japanese automotive company. While they’re not yet operating at the level of digital-native car manufacturers like Tesla or leading Chinese OEMs, they’re clearly committed to transformation. We discussed key topics shaping the future of mobility: -Software-Defined Vehicles: Rethinking how software is developed and integrated into cars -Autonomous Driving: Navigating the path to self-driving capabilities -Digital & AI-Powered Manufacturing: Leveraging technology to modernize operations I strongly advised them to avoid reinventing the wheel and instead focus on their unique differentiators rather than trying to build the entire tech stack themselves. We also explored the human side of AI transformation, and how establishing an AI Transformation Office can be a strategic and professional way to manage change. Finally, it became clear that their best chance to catch up or even leapfrog competitors is by fully embracing AI and Generative AI. Exciting times ahead for the industry! #AutomotiveIndustry #SoftwareDefinedVehicle #AutonomousDriving #DigitalTransformation #AI #GenerativeAI #ManufacturingInnovation #Leadership #TransformationStrategy #Redmond #FutureOfMobility

🚗 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰 "𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐥" 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐬? 𝐋𝐞𝐭’𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞! As always, this reflects my personal perspective: the automotive industry is racing toward an open-source future—but 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 (𝐎𝐒) 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐛𝐨𝐱𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐞? From 𝐋𝐢 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨'𝐬 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐨 𝐎𝐒 to 𝐏𝐮𝐡𝐮𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐲𝐗𝐌𝐞𝐧, and 𝐇𝐮𝐚𝐰𝐞𝐢’𝐬 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐎𝐒, Chinese automakers are betting big on open-source solutions. Even global players like 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐱 and 𝐄𝐁 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐬 are leading the charge. What’s driving this revolution? 🔑 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬: 1️⃣ 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝: Open-source OS taps into global developer ecosystems, accelerating R&D cycles. Meanwhile, Tesla’s 2014 patent giveaway set a precedent: 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲-𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. But let’s debate: - 𝐈𝐬 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, or will fragmentation stall progress? - Can proprietary systems coexist, or will they become relics of the past? - What risks emerge when code is 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦’𝘴 business? Had the pleasure and privilege to be interviewed by Capgemini Research Institute's for the World Report Series 2026 Cloud in Financial Services "From process automation to industry reimagination Unlock large-scale growth with cloud-powered AI agents". I enjoyed the experience and the report is very insightful. "How many times have you heard, “The convergence of cloud computing and artificial intelligence are real game changers”? Because the truth is, they are. Cloud platforms no longer just provide support infrastructure: they deliver tangible business value and orchestrate innovation. Paired with AI agents – autonomous systems that can reason, learn, and act – these advancements are helping organizations rethink how they operate, innovate, and engage with customers. AI is advancing beyond automation and generative models into the era of agentic AI, where intelligent agents independently handle underwriting, fraud detection, claims, and customer service. At the same time, hybrid and multi-cloud strategies are delivering the scale, resilience, and compliance needed in today’s highly regulated environment. Together, cloud and AI form a strong foundation for faster speed to market." Big thanks to #Capgemini #CapgeminiResearchInstitute and our brilliant executive account director #ashishmanekar Please have a read yourself: https://lnkd.in/eCNqpjHA Page 33 is really good :)...

The best leaders don’t just set strategy, they stay close enough to make it work. Harvard Business Review’s latest “The Surprising Success of Hands-On Leaders” underscores a truth every Tech leader should know. Strategy only matters when it’s grounded in execution. In digital transformation, the most effective leaders don’t just approve roadmaps. They engage deeply with teams, architecture, data, and customer journeys. This proximity enables faster decisions, stronger alignment, delivery excellence and measurable business impact. That’s where innovation and execution truly connect. #HandsOnLeadership #ExecutionExcellence #TechnologyStrategy #DigitalTransformation #CXLeadership
