Who we are
CnEVPost is an English-language news outlet focused on China's new energy vehicle (NEV) industry. Launched in late 2020, we are based in Shanghai, China. The site is operated by Shanghai Momin Information Technology Co Ltd, which is registered in Shanghai's Pudong New Area.
Our readers primarily include overseas investors, industry researchers and media professionals who follow China's NEV industry.
What we cover
Our core coverage focuses on publicly traded Chinese EV makers and major automakers — Nio, Xpeng, Li Auto, BYD, Geely, GWM, SAIC and Chery, as well as Tesla China. Material developments at these companies — including delivery data, earnings, product launches, executive changes and regulatory developments — are part of our regular coverage, along with research and views from analysts at major investment banks. Our goal is to become an indispensable English-language source of information on these companies.
We also closely track broader developments across China's NEV industry, including changes in industry policy, power batteries and the supply chain, as well as industry events that could affect the share prices of related companies.
China is the world's largest auto market and one of the fastest-moving markets in the transition to electrification. Important industry news emerges here every day. Delivering that information accurately and promptly to English-language readers is why CnEVPost exists.
How we work
Our editorial standards are modeled on those of international news agencies. Founder Phate Zhang has more than 17 years of experience in journalism and has worked at China Daily, Reuters and a Chinese financial-media startup called Wallstreetcn. CnEVPost's fact-checking and corrections procedures follow practices developed at news agencies.
For a full explanation of how we work, see the following two pages:
[Editorial Guidelines] — How we select stories, verify sources and handle rumors, and why "when in doubt, no publishing" is our highest principle.
[Corrections Policy] — How we publicly correct errors when we find them, and how you can report an error to us.
Our reporting has been cited by international media including Nikkei Asia, the Financial Times and Yahoo Finance, as well as leading industry publications including Electrek, InsideEVs and CleanTechnica. Our work has also been used in reports by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and in a speech by the president of the European Central Bank.
