Access to finance can be a barrier for many First Nations businesses when traditional lending relies heavily on property security.    That’s why NAB and Indigenous Business Australia have launched the Indigenous Business Guarantee, designed to support lending of up to $1 million for eligible First Nations businesses, with IBA guaranteeing up to 50% of the loan amount.     This initiative is about backing strong businesses, like Towcha Technology, with practical support to help them invest, expand and grow. New NAB Economics research shows AI is already influencing investment, hiring and business operations. Our Chief Economist, Sally Auld GAICD, unpacks what this could mean below.

In almost every customer meeting I’ve done this year, customers have consistently asked about AI and its impact on the Australian economy. We thought it important to put pen to paper and write something that may go some way to answering their questions. Our note reveals that AI adoption is now visible in Australia’s economic data - it’s influencing investment, hiring and business operations. It also shows that AI-driven change is likely to be gradual and uneven, underscoring the importance of training and support to widen opportunities and manage impacts. I’m sharing our research with you here and I hope you find it of interest. https://lnkd.in/gqUGpiTT

A/Prof Corey Tutt OAM founded DeadlyScience after seeing first-hand how hard it can be for First Nations and Torres Strait Islander students to access encouragement, resources and pathways into STEM.   What began as one person creating and sending resources into schools has grown into a national movement. DeadlyScience now supports regional and remote education providers across Australia and connects First Nations learners with STEM professionals. It was great to hear Corey speak at NAB’s National Reconciliation Week panel event, where his passion came through loud and clear. Building capability starts with access, confidence and visibility.  This year’s theme, ALL IN, is a reminder that progress takes more than intent. It takes action.  Backing organisations like DeadlyScience is one way we can go all in by helping create the next generation of scientists, engineers and innovators, and strengthening Australia’s future workforce at the same time.   #NRW2026

We’ve opened our first Community Hub in Werribee, in partnership with The Salvation Army. It’s a new approach to banking, bringing together specialist NAB teams, local support services and face‑to‑face help in one place. From scams and fraud to navigating financial challenges or planning for what’s next, the hub is designed to make it easier to get the right support when life gets complicated. Werribee is the first of several locations, with more hubs to come as we learn and build on this model. Take a look inside the hub in the video below and read more on NAB News: https://lnkd.in/gxa9Kr2t Ana Marinkovic Paul Carter Jocelyn Turner Tony Story Belinda Mamet Tim Armstrong

From banker to barista… we’ll let you decide how it went ☕️ We recently spent time with NAB customer Industry Beans, to hear how they’re navigating the current environment. From a single Fitzroy café to a national brand, a clear focus on quality and consistency have underpinned their growth. As co-founder Steven Simmons says: “It always feels challenging, but there’s always opportunity to make the business better.” Watch NAB banker Daniel Goodman’s (attempted) coffee skills, then read more about their story on NAB News: https://lnkd.in/ghh32fZH

How did we make our number-one rated app even better?  It starts with listening. Customers told us they wanted to quickly understand their position, easier access to security, savings and other tools to manage money better.  We’ve heard that feedback. The refreshed NAB App and Internet Banking cuts down clicks and provides faster access to the features people use most.  Practical ways we’re making everyday banking easier and even better. It’s why the NAB App is Australia’s most highly-rated major bank app in the Apple App Store and Google Play.  See what’s new and learn more at nab.com.au/betterbanking

At the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Summit in Sydney marking 20 years of AWS, one thing stood out. Cloud hasn’t just changed technology, it’s changed how organisations build and operate. Steve Day, NAB’s Chief Technology Officer, Enterprise Technology, joined Cliff Obrecht, Co-founder and COO at Canva, and Sukhinder Singh Cassidy, CEO at Xero, to reflect on what cloud has taught us and what comes next. The takeaway is clear. The organisations that get the most out of AI will be those with strong engineering foundations, trusted data and clear governance.
