I am kinda shocked that a freaking FAN EQUIPPED GAMING PHONE couldn't even finish the wildlife extreme test!!
WTF!
It was the very testnutnwas supposed to crush everything else on!
Sorry but that's unacceptable
so, in the frequency response graph for the speakers, WHERE is the ostensibly red line denoting THIS phone's response? don't you guys proofread basics like that?
Anonymous, 18 Dec 2023No camera bump, no camera hole, 6500mah battery. This phone has a great design. Shame I'... moreI preferred better camera and my phone is dead now in 2 years. I understood why it died, it was the heating issue. I've learned my lesson. Since then I've decided to buy gaming devices only, whether it's PC or a Smartphone. Two things that can kill electronics easily are - Heat and Water. Gaming devices are robust, has excellent cooling system, operating system also comes with tons of customizable features, etc. And since you're talking about camera on a gaming, let me tell you they aren't that bad, and of course the recent gaming phones have improved their camera significantly. I'm phone less now, in future if I buy smartphone I'll definitely go for a gaming device.
I ask the question again: why on earth does a gaming phone have cameras? Apart from possibly the front facer, it does not need any back cameras, let alone multiple ones. I think customers would be ok to buy them cheaper.

720p screens are rare today. Majority use 1080p.
So many above $500 are at least 1220p.
Anonymous, 18 Dec 2023Little issue with your comment. 8g2 devices run genshi at 720p, while 8g3 devices at 840p.... morevery interesting find, Mihoyo is so weird, this should be a setting that people can choose if they want to, not an arbitrary value they set themselves. They can set one as an "auto" feature, sure, but blocking it is dumb. Anyways, even if the resolution is different, most people would notice the lack of smoothness over a sustained run (stutters and throttled performance), over a resolution bump. Anyways I think thr GSMarena review is a tad too negative, most other youtubers have different takes except for HRR gaming and the fact that the phone gets hot

Usually a phone struggles due to the battery but this phone has that sorted out. I guess ZTE designed this phone with keeping the fan on at mid-high load scenario in mind. The phone's gonna get so hot, yikes.

Reason some do not keep up 60fps.
D8200 does 60fps, but at 680p.

ISO 2056 at Good Light?
Can you fix the Speaker test portion please? Playback for the RM 9 Pro is not available and the frequency response curve does not show up in the graph. Would be really interested in comparing it with the ROG Phone 7 and RM 8S Pro.
That's some unfortunate performance in sustained loads. I can't truly believe the chipset is much harder to cool than the Dimensity 9300.
4 things,
1. The phone has mediocre-horrible throttling, in benchmarks at least. The redmagic 8 and 8s pro have shown that they can handle Genshin at max settings for a solid 60 fps, so it proves how benchmarks aren't the be all end all. Gsm should test games using gpu watch and show us the temps as well. Genshin and PUBG are preferred and emulation would be cool as well.
2. The phone STILL has no HRR in games, what's the point then? The S23 would feel smoother because it just has more frames it can and DOES display, if the frames were to be capped at 60 then even an SD 7+ Gen 2 would've been good enough, if not overkill. I really like how this phone isn't TOO expensive, but the Iqoo 12 seems like a better purchase just due to the ability to play HRR games.
3. The battery is superb. Sets a new benchmark for android phones. Even if Asus's battery management is good, 500 more mah is 500 more mah, don't think tbe ROG Phone 8 would be able to beat this beast. As I said before, bravo Nubia, thank you for increasing the battery capacity, more battery is ALWAYS better. 20-30 more grams for 1-2 more hours of SOT? Yes please. I like how Chinese manufacturers are pushing for higher capacity, hopefully everyone else would do this as well, more battery means more time spent using the phone rather than thinking of charging the phone. AND this phone has faster charging than the ROG phone 7? Amazing! ZTE deserves a pat on the back for this amazing battery.
4. Finally, I'm unable to listen to the speakers right now but if the past is something to judge by then these speakers won't be THAT good, mid frequency response with a pretty bad amount of distortion. That's the only other hardware fault I can find besides the currently bad throttling/heat dissipation. The speakers aren't bad, but it's a gaming phone yk, Xiaomi's Black shark 5 and Asus's Rog phones have basically set the standard for phone audio.
I'm nitpicking about the speaker, it's easy to forgive, thermals aren't horrible either because most likely it'll be great in the real world. But the lack of HRR gaming is a huge bummer. I can't play PUBG at 90 fps for that much time due to the battery, and this phone has an amazing battery but can't play at 90 fps.
On a side note, due to how powerful phones are now, do you guys think PUBG and Genshin should add higher fps modes? I don't understand why they lock these features, this is the android world, give us the option even if it sucks the life out of the phone, why buy a phone with a flagship chip yk?
No camera bump, no camera hole, 6500mah battery. This phone has a great design. Shame I'm not interested in gaming that much and I prefer better cameras.
IpsDisplay, 18 Dec 2023Why do they lock at 60 fps everytime? It has been years. Gsmarena should already have asked Zte why.
Does anyone have experience with using Gcam on previous red magic generation phones and if it helped the image quality?
Anonymous, 18 Dec 2023I knew Zte would again lock some games to lower framerates. Some here got 😡😡😡😡. Same games... moreWhy do they lock at 60 fps everytime?
Thing has infra red and headphone jack. So called dinosaur tech by gmsarena updooter fans. Couldn't put an sd card to avoid 1tb variants from taking a hit lol.
