A gaming phone with an active fan can't complete 3DMark Wild Life stress test without overheating, that's EMBARRASSING. Especially when rivals without active fans and "gaming" tags can both complete it AND sustain higher performance in the other stress tests. Something went horrible wrong during this design, poor SoC contact or they forgot the thermal paste altogether lmao.
How is it even possible to lose with an active fan? Did they even test this thing before releasing it?
Looks like I'll be holding on to my Poco F2 Pro for another generation, or until something shows up that doesn't throttle. For reference my SD 865 Poco F2 Pro throttles to 94% at 30 minutes in the CPU Stress Test app, avg 226k GIPS.
What's the point of upgrading when most of the performance is gone after a minute. I really wish phone manufacturers could focus more on cooling and sustained performance numbers and treat it like an essential vital part.
Can you imagine the outcry if Intel or AMD gave you 60% performance after a minute? There would be riots and lawsuits lmao.

If price in the US is similar to the one shown here this definately will be my next phone. The only negtive is no band 71, but I am willing to live without it, if I will be getting such a long battery life on a charge!

Coming from a Samsung S22U/ Apple 14 Pro OS to Redmagic OS was a shock lol. RM OS feels very tacky and slapped together. I don't feel like any care and effort was put into their OS design. It's like ordering Domino's and saying it was good pizza.

Also you are very lucky if you were able to boot into EDL via button combo. Many phones require disassembly and you need to short circuit some test points on the motherboard in order to boot into EDL.

On so call... moreI'm looking at gaming phones since they are the last places of sanity when it comes to stuff like headphone jacks, flat screens with no damage etc.
You can emulate up to PS2 and Switch, which are better than any trash phone games out there.
And for a lot of people, a portable device is better than a pc or console that is only useful when the user is at home. Else, they would just be gathering dust.

If this fails your expectations, do you recommend the 8/8s line?

I have 2 phones, one for work and one for personal use, on my old Iphone 13 pro max, there´s no such problems, neither when i had my OP 7 Pro(MB died) before buying Red Magic 8 Pro. So what facts are you talking about.

The latest update is REDMAGICOS8.0.7_NX729J_EEA
I have received a couple of software updates since June, the latest update is this month December, security patch and system improvements. Software updates from ZTE/Nubia are spread out and more timely than other software updates from other smartphone brands. If people keep commenting that they don't receive updates, then they don't own a red magic or a zte/nubia device. Some people need to get there facts correct before posting.

I love gaming, but I'll probably never buy a PlayStation, Sure hi end phones like flagship Samsung phones can handle most games, but the heating problem always comes, and then there's batteries. That's where gaming phones come in...

All these gaming phones are just marketing gimmicks in terms of gaming.
Hardware wise they are good only.
And those who plays game while commuting will like it.
Entertainmaint is always at home.
