They should've done something very close to stock android, aosp in the UI, with just a little bit of customization. But nah, they wanted to be special and ended up here...

Makes sense. These days people buy phones by watching reviews on youtube, not by going to a physical store and trying it out before buying.

Hey so like, was the Xperia 1 VII ever avaliable in Poland? Because it's on Sony's website but it's out of stock and it says that production ended or something. Wonder if it's related to this.

Sony mobile division have been making boring smartphones for years, I'm even surprised they didn't disappear before LG...

Zack1, 14 Jul 2025Sony UI is junk and design specially body to screen ratio no body wants bezel in phone.sony di... moreReally, I think the biggest problem for Sony here is not the UI, but the price. Sony phones on average are very expensive, especially since they always launch after literally every single Android brand/OEM releases theirs in Q1.

Because of that, the only people who buy Sony are either Sony fans, single issue buyers (like those who desperately want a headphone jack on a flagship) or people who had enough of Samsung or Chinese OEMs and want something different.

Overpriced phones with no proper software support, they're not really trying to sell it's just to market their tech

I just looked on eMAG over in Romania to check on the price of the 1 VI released last year.

About the same price of a S25 Ultra with 512GB of storage... from this year. Yeah then I wonder why people don't buy Sony phones.

If they plan to release the 1 VII in Romania, I wouldn't be surprised if it will cost as much as a Galaxy Fold 7.

I think that for many years already you hardly see Sony phones in any European country

It's already been more or less the case for the 1VI. In France it was available on a famous online store. A few months later, it was no more available. They're reorganizing a few things and want people to use their online store. I remember that finding an Xperia phone on the Sony site was quite difficult back then. Things are way more easy now for example

That means their smartphone business fate is coming.

At this point it seems like the writing's on the wall for Sony's smartphone division. I wouldn't be surprised if this or the 1 VIII was their final smartphone because they're really acting like they don't want to do this anymore.

You can't even get 512 GB variant in those selected European countries.
