Meanwhile, Acer and Meizu are back... even HMD refuses to quit even though they continue to make mediocre phones. And Sony continues to get bad news like this.
Well...
Instead of reducing their prices, they reduce their availability and quality. This doesn't seem like a good strategy in the long run(((
I'd bought an upgrade for my Xperia 5 III in the range of 800$-1000$

In fact, we should consider punch hole as part of bezel. Real screen size measure should be ininterrupted screen.

YourLocalPhoneCritic, 14 Jul 2025Sony's greed led to them destroying their future...Greed?? I don't think so more like Apple is greedy one. They have destroyed their future because they do well in all other fields

I wish success to sony. There are no much smartphones supporting 3.5mm jake nowadays.
That means we can say goodbye to good carrier deals as well. Big shame, that was the only way to get them comfortably below 1k. Sony's the only manufacturer making the phones I want (no hole punch, wireless charging, side-fingerprint scanner, 3'5 jack and easy root) but the offensive price, weak software support and poor camera performance ootb (compared to its peers) make me hesitant to buy it. If only someone else at least copied the design.
I think everyone comparing this phone to an S25 or whatever other flagship point is completely missing the point.
Sony has smartphone business in Europe?
If only they hadn't stuck to their egos and lowered the price of their phone instead, things might have gotten a little bit different.
Not surprised. the xperia 1 VII retailed for 1500€ before it got taken down and for that you get what? bad battery life, bad software support, average cameras, slow charging,
it's ogre
Since they separated from Ericsson, things have been going downhill! Who would have thought it? Sony Ericsson was once synonymous with status and modernity. Young people were the ones who bought Sonys back then. Now, hardly anyone remembers that Sony makes phones.
Too expensive for what they offer; I've had the Xperia 1 IV, V & VI - only benefits to ease the price on the Xperia 1 V & VI was getting the XM5 headphones on a pre-order.
As others have said, it's too expensive compared to its peers. Considering they boasted in previews about the Alpha tech, disappointingly small increments on their continuous zoom camera in the past three years.
I've switched to the Oppo Find X8 Pro as it has a better telephoto zoom
A company that dosen't listen to consumers.... we all saw this forum years
If you think about sonys other brands (alpha, brava, PlayStation, Sony Audio, Sony Music etc.) you'd think Sony would make some of the best phones on the planet. But they just don't give xperia the support it needs to thrive. Now they're gonna reap what they sow and probably close their smartphone business for good in the next few months. Such a shame because they could've had an amazing product on their hands
