I dont regret my decision switching to chinese brand. Rest in peace sony
Sony is the only Japanese brand in Europe so I'll go to the last one. I would like to replace my 1 VI with a 1 VII in purple. We just need to know when you start selling again at the end of summer or during the fall? We'll have to see next year if this level is still there for its cell phones via their site, is it in Europe or only in Japan. A friend criticizes me because I changed every year (but he does the same with his iPhone) at least if one day the last one comes out I'll keep it for a very long time. A friend kept her XZ 2 for 7 years.
I did not know tha sony have a smartphone business in Europe or somewhere else... just 1 (ONE) crap-phone left i not what I call a business model... rest in peace sony mobile
Pampam666, 14 Jul 2025That was 11 years ago mate, Sony didn't release a good smartphone in a long time. I mean ... moreI care about the microSD, ending using a SSD USB C instead of purchasing Sony ... And I really wanted to but it's too pricey for the offering. And now the quality doesn't seems to be there like in the past.
downscaling will always be bad for a brand with already narrow market...
xperia left the philippines after xz2 (not even xz2 compact and xz2 premium mades its way here)...
but i still went for them, importing from hongkong via online shops... so from miro, z1 compact, z3, z5 premium, i still managed to buy xz2 compact, 1ii and 1v...
i might still get 1viii or 1ix if they will still exist...
but, i guess, i have to look elsewhere seriously...
since last year, i am sparingly using zfold5, oneplus open, and x200 pro (global), there are just some features i cannot live without - headphone jack and microsd slot (unless i also switch to portable ssd from sd cards that i have a ton of ๐
)...
i guess, sony has given enough time for its fans, like me, to look into other brands...
and it is sad because i was from nokia and a partial lg user...
i guess, somebody has to tell me which brands should quit, so i can try them... ๐... knowing what happened and is happening to the brands i had... ๐
Sony is still making phones, really ??? Haven't seen one in many years. Maybe it is time for them to give up and just sell cameras to the other brands
Lordvoldemor, 14 Jul 2025Sony xperia 1 cost around 1400-1500. Xperia 1 for 1000 is a good deal. Have you seen the phone... moreI did actually, I rocked the 1 mark 3 for a good 2 years until it broke down three times in a row and I got offered a p8 pro as compensation.
It's so obvious that Sony is trying to get rid if its mobile business. Marginal innovation and improvement year on year, taking down models (e.g. the V-series), skyrocketing prices, worsening of price-performance ratio, and now they are slowly stepping out of business.
It's a pity because Sony would have had both, talent and resources, to make the Xperia line thrive and be a top-selling contender in the premium market.

Even low level xiaomi cost 300 now a days.
You have never owned or used a Sony xperia 1 for sure.
As a traditional brand with over 20 years of experience in the industry, only Samsung and Motorola remain. Therefore, it's only a matter of time before Sony fails completely.
Anonymous, 14 Jul 2025It was about time. What did Sony expect? That an sd card slot, a headphone jack, an (for the d... moreThe problem was the stupid prize. If they had the same featureset minus perhaps some camera goodness for half the price there would've been an audience for it.
The 10 is properly priced but heavily flawed compared to the 1 and the 5 is just a dumb upsell to the 1.
But no, their dumb ego thinks they can ask well over 1k for a phone that in real-world (especially software) is worse than the S25/S25+. These can typically be had for well under 1k if not closer to 500 if you're paying attention for deals. Even if you like everything about what the phone itself is you just cannot explain the ridiculous pricing.
The day Sony lost the China market, was the day Sony will be declined and over
Yeah, nobody in Finland really bought their phones except back in the Z2 days, or so. This was very much expected, just wondering how they didn't do this a decade ago already. Their high price with low OS version update support was a really idiotic way of doing business - especially for the more recent phones. Rivals offer better phones with longer support, so no wonder Sony did not sell.

Man, had it been 8 years already?
Anonymous, 14 Jul 2025Sad that Sony mobile is dying. Loved my Z3. It was the best phone in 2014.That was 11 years ago mate, Sony didn't release a good smartphone in a long time. I mean they aren't necessarily bad, just horribly priced. They actually make good looking phones that still have a jack and sd card slot, but how many people even care enough for those things to be sold at such a premium?
