notafanboy, 29 May 2025I'm sure the 10 Xperia users will be concerned by that. Or maybe not. Who cares?Your life is fullfiled when you care so much about other people and what they like. One look at all your comments and it shows. People. Lol. Well, enjoy your day and have fun (sharing opinions and helping others with your sarcasm)

Does this mean less notorious build quality issues if they just outsource it all?

Fujitsu sells amazing quality Laptops, they also make good quality AC's.

It baffles me how Sony would produce the very best camera sensors and components, but continue to use only the 3rd best option (by a big margin) on their phones.
What are they trying to gain, World's best supplier award?
Thermals can definitely be better, but a part of it could be due to the design.

I have a LG G8x which has a separate Quad DAC which is pretty much the best you can get in a thing that calls and messages. But for my next phone, I might also consider the USB DAC. Times change.

If anything, the cables used do. Atleast that is my experience over many years, as soon as you replace the loose cable, the issues disappear.

Makes sense for Sony. They don't get the hassle of building the phones themselves, and frees up manpower from their manufacturing sites.

On Sony websites they talk about "compatible products" with Xperia like for the WF-1000XM5 headphones (I hope the XM6 will be available this year).
Is it just marketing, where is there an advantage to using the same brand? Because I love Technics and there are the EAH-AZ100 released in 2025.

They should move their a$$ fast, put silicon battery in it, save space and put more thermal solution in it.

Companies don't own their shares except for treasury shares. Shares belong to shareholders. If you hold 10 million Sony shares, for example, Sony can't sell them as they belong to you, not Sony.

Sam N8 808 owner, 30 May 2025Exactly, just a microSD/3.5mm combo is not enough to justify such a premium. You're right... moreLet's hope that the changes actually matter to the consumer. I can only judge from when I used to buy phones with headphone jacks which is for much longer than most people due to my headphone and IEM collection, but in the end a 25โ‚ฌ USB-C DAC just delivered way better sound, because the DAC used by Qualcomm is usually implemented in power-saving mode with no way to change it.

Sony needs to step their game up. The thermals are bad, cameras underwhelming but most importantly not using the best they even produce in house, display and battery are fine but neither are any special. The thing I like the most is the design which still is by far the best, but it does not matter when everything else is just okay.
