How to move AVID bins including metadata to DaVinci Resolve Moving bins and metadata from one application to another can be difficult sometimes. In this tutorial I will explain how to move bins including metadata from AVID Media Composer to DaVinci Resolve. https://lnkd.in/dWw7eKY9 And I have written a small freeware application, MetadataConverter which you can find here: https://lnkd.in/dKK5NBhN It helps you convert the .txt file from AVID to a .csv file for Resolve as described in the tutorial.

I've started learning CapCut three times. Never finished once. Premiere After Effects  DaVinci  Avid That new AI tool everyone's talking about. I'd watch tutorials. Download trials. Get excited. Then a week later? Back to what I already knew. Sound familiar? I thought I had a discipline problem. I didn't. I had a clarity problem. Here's the truth about shiny object syndrome: It's not about curiosity. It's about avoidance. Every new tool feels like progress.  Like you're investing in yourself.  Like you're staying competitive. But jumping between software isn't learning. It's hiding. Hiding from the discomfort of mastering one thing.  From the boring middle where real skill is built.  From the fear that maybe you're not progressing fast enough. New tools feel exciting. Mastery feels slow. So we chase the dopamine of starting over. Here's what finally broke the cycle: 1. Pick one tool - The best software is the one you actually learn.  - Commit for 90 days. 2. Define the outcome  - Don't learn Resolve.  - Learn color grading in Resolve for narrative work. 3. Finish one project  - No switching until you complete something real.  - Tutorials don't count. 4. Ignore the noise  - That new plugin can wait.  - Your fundamentals can't. 5. Measure depth, not width  - One tool at 80% beats five tools at 20%. The editors getting hired aren't the ones who know everything. They're the ones who know one thing deeply. Generalists get curious. Specialists get booked. Stop collecting tools. Start mastering one. We’ve seen a growing number of clients looking for production systems that can move as easily as their teams do. Systems that can be deployed quickly, fit into different spaces, and connect back to a centralized operation without sacrificing quality or reliability. That’s where flight packs come in. At Broadcast Management Group, Inc., we treat flight packs as engineered systems, not kits. Each one is built around the actual needs of the show, whether that means switching, graphics, audio, transmission, or redundancy. Nothing extra. Nothing missing. One example is a Fortune 500 client we work with that produces both internal and external programming across office locations worldwide. We designed a permanent multi-camera, audio, and display system in their main corporate hubs, which serve as central gathering points for employees. We designed a compact, custom flight pack that works alongside that permanent infrastructure. For simpler shows, the flight pack can operate autonomously, giving them an on-demand production system that is always ready. For more complex productions, each event hub is connected into their main central corporate control room at headquarters. And when internal resources are stretched, each location is also connected directly back to BMG’s Network Operations Center for centralized switching, audio, graphics, and technical execution. The result is one system that supports multiple operating modes, local when it needs to be, centralized when it makes sense, and fully scalable as demands change. It allows them to communicate internally or externally, at a local or global level, without waiting on trucks, travel, or long lead times. What matters most is not the form factor. It’s flexibility. Production teams need systems that scale up and down, travel easily, and integrate cleanly into cloud and REMI workflows. When that happens, technology stops being the constraint and starts supporting how teams actually work. Always ready, always scalable.

One common misconception I often hear is that Virtual Production is too expensive because of the cost of LED volumes. But let me tell you a little secret. The LED Volume isn’t always used. While LED walls get all the attention, many productions still rely on green screens or hybrid setups (green screen + LED). LED volumes are best used when interactive lighting and real-time parallax (camera perspective changes) are crucial. Green Screen Virtual Production is more Cost-effective and flexible. This is ideal for projects with lower budgets or where the background will be heavily manipulated in post. Are there enough SMPTE 2110-skilled professionals in today’s broadcast market? 🤔 What can we do to improve the situation? The industry is increasingly relying on SMPTE 2110 workflows, yet the talent pool hasn’t kept pace with adoption. According to a June 2025 NewscastStudio roundtable, the industry faces notable skill gaps as teams move towards IP. 🧠 Engineers with hybrid broadcast + IT expertise are scarce, and mainstream IT teams often take time and resources to integrate into the world of broadcast. Meanwhile, traditional broadcast staff often lack the network knowledge and experience needed to keep up with the speed of innovation and the growing demand for IP workflows. ⚙️📡   💡 What we can do to improve supply:   1️⃣ Champion skill‑based hiring over formal credentials 📌 Evidence suggests employers are shifting toward skill‑based recruitment in high‑tech domains. Hire quality candidates from varied backgrounds (IT, systems, broadcast) and allow skills to develop in the relevant environment. 2️⃣ Upskill, Upskill, Upskill 🚀 The market is rich in talent that has experience and knowledge of the complex world of broadcast workflows. Draw on this knowledge to accelerate training and engage untapped potential. These candidates are the future of 2110, if you're investing in the tech, then also invest in the people! 👥📈 3️⃣ Expand specialized training programmes 🎓 More bootcamps and industry‑led courses (like SMPTE’s 2110 bootcamp) are needed. Partnerships with training providers and systems integrators to sponsor scholarships or apprenticeships can nurture and encourage future talent. Embedding IP‑media workflows into broadcast engineering curriculums could help close the gap early. 🔄📘 4️⃣ Support peer learning forums 🤝 Forums and industry groups (e.g. AIMS Alliance, vendor roundtables, podcasts) can help share real-world lessons learned, best practices, troubleshooting tips, and evolving architectures.
