Vincent Taylor reposted thisVincent Taylor reposted thisA huge thank you to the SMPTE Hollywood Section for organizing last night's panel "Restoration, Remastering and Reimagining the Process". It was an incredibly insightful discussion from industry leaders like Andrea Kalas, Charlotte Barker, Larry Chernoff and Grover Crisp on why archival, preservation, future proofing and emerging restoration technologies continue to be an integral part of studio operations.

Vincent Taylor shared thisWell, it's been a minute, hasn't it? Life admin and all that - a rollercoaster of emotion? Maybe, but let's not get caught up in all that. I conducted a series of interviews with the colorists at Color Nation toward the end of last year. Some interviews have come into the world, but many haven't (life admin, remember?). Now that my head is slowly coming up for air, I really want to get some of these interviews out so you can see them. They interviews were fun to do and the folks I'm chatting with know a bunch of very clever things! This particular interview talks about networking with the super talented Gino Amadori, CSI 🔴🟢🔵 - Update: I had a question - Yes, the full interviews will also be released on a brand new youtube channel coming soon! #podcast#interview #colorist #colourist #networking #colornation

Vincent Taylor reposted thisVincent Taylor reposted thisThe KOJO Post team is delighted that the Australian theatrical release of Jimpa is now in cinemas from today. Written and directed by Sophie Hyde of Closer Productions and produced by Liam Heyen and Cyna Strahan (Mad Ones Films), Jimpa premiered to acclaim at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Returning to Sundance, Sophie Hyde delivered deeply personal and engaging storytelling, with unforgettable performances from Olivia Colman, John Lithgow, and Aud Mason-Hyde in their feature debut. Shot on location in Amsterdam and Adelaide, KOJO proudly provided post-production workflow, digital dailies, online editing, colour grade, and delivery to Sundance. Additional delivery to Kismet, Protagonist Pictures, and Cinéart supported the film's wider international release. We congratulate the entire creative team on the passion, care, and dedication that brought Jimpa to life. We're excited for Australian audiences to experience this remarkable film on the big screen.

Vincent Taylor reposted thisVincent Taylor reposted thisLast week Surf Life Saving Australia launched Red & Yellow Day - a new Australian national day recognizing the many volunteers who keep our Aussie beaches safe, and MIK Studio helped support the campaign with this beautiful video piece. I did my surf life saving training at Sandy Point (by the famous Wilson's Prom area in Gippsland) as a teenager and spent many summers running the radio comms (of course!) so will be supporting Red & Yellow Day come March 4 with LOTS of nostalgia! Take a look at the video, but enjoy the tune recorded by Budjerah - just beautiful! Vincent Taylor reacted on thisVincent Taylor reacted on thisI sometimes feel it’s a pity that in Singapore, we don’t make a bigger fuss about original music. Not just the familiar classics or the pop favourites, but music written from scratch by our own musicians. The kind of music that deserves to be heard simply because it’s that good. This Friday and Saturday, 3 & 4 April, Jeramzee will be performing a number of Professor Jeremy Monteiro's original compositions at The Lobby Lounge, Frasers House, 80 Middle Road — right at Bugis Junction, in the space many of us still remember as the old InterContinental Hotel. These are beautifully written instrumental pieces with real groove, heart and sophistication. To my ears, they sit very comfortably alongside the kind of writing you’d associate with bands like Spyro Gyra and others in that lane. The clip here is me taking a solo on one of Jeremy’s original tunes, Helvetica. Oh, and by the way, there be vocals too in the form of the wonderful Stephen Francis. I promise you, you will love his voice! He's that good! If you’re around, do come join us. It’ll be a lovely evening of great music, and I think you’ll really enjoy hearing these pieces live. Reserve your table here: https://lnkd.in/d8bxT8YN Hope to see some of you there this Friday and Saturday night.

“We met on Nike when I had the fortune of working with him for the first time, Vincent was brilliant to work with from the minute we arrived. His positive attitude and professionalism radiates in his work, and his passion and attention for detail went well beyond the norms of expectation. He is a true master craftsman, to say nothing of how he handles and responds to the room. Vincent works hard and beyond to achieve the buy in and satisfaction to all parties vested in the project without compromising on the artistic integrity of the project.”

🎥 After more than a decade directing live broadcasts and livestreams, I’ve seen the technology—and the expectations—evolve dramatically. From early SD webcam streams to today’s multi-cam, 4K NDI-over-IP productions powered by NewTek - now Vizrt, vMix, and OBS, the tools have become incredibly powerful—and increasingly accessible. But one thing has never changed: 👉 Practice is the key to a seamless live show. Whether you're working with professional video switchers and audio interfaces or just using a Stream Deck and a solid webcam, every livestream benefits from testing, refining, and iterating. 💡 Don’t be afraid to try new formats, test gear under pressure, or go live with a smaller audience to build your confidence. Every challenge—sync issues, bandwidth drops, AV delays—teaches you something valuable. Today, livestreaming is no longer niche—it’s a core part of how we communicate, teach, sell, and lead. I put this short guide together to help creators at any level get started the right way. #Livestreaming #ContentCreation #VideoProduction #CreatorTools #LiveVideo #StreamingSetup #VideoMarketing #Livestreaming #VideoProduction #NDI #4KStreaming #Tricaster #LiveVideo

One of the most important lessons in post-production sound: Trust the filmmaker’s vision. When you’re working with someone who’s lived with a project for months or even years, they carry an intuition about the story that matters. Our role as post-sound professionals isn’t just technical execution. It’s collaboration. That means being open to feedback. Listening deeply. And asking, “What are you trying to communicate?” Expertise matters. But service to the story matters more! This mindset doesn’t just create better mixes, it creates stronger creative relationships. How do you balance expertise with collaboration in your work?

Nano Banana 2 just dropped. Before everyone rushes to it, here's what most people still don't understand about the first one. The biggest thing people get wrong about Nano Banana & NB Pro is they treat it like a diffusion model. It's not. It's actually two things working together. A reasoning brain built on Gemini 3 Pro that plans and validates the image, and a rendering engine called GemPix 2 that actually draws it. The brain reads your whole prompt, builds a structured scene plan, and then checks the output against that plan in a loop until it's satisfied. So the more specific your prompt, the more the model has to check itself against. That's why detailed prompts actually work here, not just as a best practice, but because of how the model is literally built. A few other things worth knowing: ALL CAPS works because the text encoder is case-sensitive, unlike older diffusion models where it meant nothing. When your text instructions and your reference images contradict each other, the brain tends to trust the reference image over your words. So if you're dropping in a close-up reference but you don't want it to copy the scale or composition, you have to say that explicitly. And forget everything you know about quality boost tags like "masterpiece" or "trending on artstation." The model was literally trained to penalize those. Write like you're briefing a really smart art director. Not tuning a dial. #nanobanana2 #nanobananapro #googlegemini #aidrector #weavyai

Don’t work in the film industry… 👇 If you can’t show up on time, every time If you ghost people the second you hear “no” If you burn bridges when you don’t get your way If you think ego is more important than collaboration If you don’t respect every role, from PA to producer If you’re only interested in who can help you right now If you think talent alone will carry you through If you’re too proud to learn from someone younger than you If you think “networking” is just handing out business cards If you can’t handle constructive criticism without taking it personally The film industry doesn’t need more egos—it needs professionals. People who keep their promises. Those who understand that this is a team sport. Who knows that success comes from relationships, not transactions. If you’re not ready to treat every interaction like it matters—because it does— This business will chew you up and spit you out. But if you can: → Be someone people want to work with again → Build trust in an industry built on relationships → Lift others instead of tearing them down Then you’re on the right path. Because in the film industry, your reputation is your career.

Pandora is back in court over allegations that its free radio service may have been avoiding royalties owed to songwriters and publishers. The Mechanical Licensing Collective says Pandora’s radio product is functioning more like a streaming platform than a traditional radio station. If Pandora Free behaves like radio, it falls under one set of royalty rules. If it behaves like an interactive streaming service, it owes mechanical royalties for the songs being played. The MLC says Pandora has crossed that line. According to the filing, Pandora Free gives listeners tools that look a lot like streaming: personalized stations, the ability to skip songs, replay tracks, and in some cases choose specific music. The argument is that once listeners gain that level of control, the service stops looking like radio. Pandora says its free tier is still fundamentally internet radio, where listeners can influence the direction of a station but cannot fully control what plays next. Pandora also argues that the limited on-demand listening users get after watching an ad, called Premium Access, is a separate feature that is already licensed. So the court now has to decide where Pandora’s product actually sits. Because if a radio service begins functioning like streaming, the royalty bill starts to look very different.
