  • The EU Packaging Regulation (PPWR) introduces new requirements for companies placing packaging on the EU market. Requirements related to packaging design, labeling, recyclability, and extended producer responsibility are set to reshape how companies approach compliance. While the regulation applies broadly across the value chain, U.S. companies selling into the EU will also need to comply to maintain market access. Now is the time to assess your packaging, identify gaps, and prepare for what’s ahead. • Cybersecurity risks for airports are rising, and disruptions can cascade through air transportation, causing national and potentially global safety and economic impacts. Many airports don’t have the resources to build and run a cybersecurity program that protects against sophisticated state-sponsored threat actors. Tetra Tech provides global cybersecurity and aviation solutions to help airports proactively address threats and unify visibility across OT and IT systems. Our full service, best-in-class cybersecurity services aligned to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) help airports prevent, detect, respond to, and recover from cyber incidents. Given today's environment, it's important to prepare for possible cyber-attacks. Contact our team to discuss fully managed or a la carte cybersecurity services that give airport operators — and the traveling public — greater peace of mind: federalIT@tetratech.com. #LeadingWithScience

Tetra Tech played a key engineering role in one of the largest navigation projects in history: the Panama Canal Third Set of Locks expansion. Completed in 2016, the Third Set of Locks was the largest component of the expansion and unlocked a longstanding bottleneck, allowing megaships to pass through the canal carrying more than twice the volume of cargo as they did previously. Tetra Tech engineers, working as part of a joint venture team, used advanced analysis and computer modeling to design innovative solutions with a 100-year design life. Tetra Tech designed: • All project valves and bulkheads that regulate gravity flow from Lake Gatun to the oceans • World’s largest water saving basin structures that enable emptying and filling operations • Inlet and outlet monoliths at both of the Atlantic and Pacific lock complexes • All approach structures that align and stage ships as they enter or exit the locks We also provided engineering support and quality assurance services through the end of construction. Tetra Tech’s design of the world’s largest water savings basins allows cross-filling of the Panama locks to reuse water from one lock chamber for use in another. This procedure saves up to 60% of the region’s most precious commodity in times of drought. Throughout our history, Tetra Tech’s engineers have played a part in some of the most innovative ports, coastal, and inland navigation infrastructure projects—from designing for megaships to protecting waterfront communities. We’re excited to share our evolution with you through photos as we celebrate our 60th anniversary throughout the year. #Tt60 #LeadingWithScience Tetra Tech Water

  • Jeremy Mariathasan, P.Eng. and his team know that thoughtful design decisions early in a project can have a major impact during construction. They captured these photos during design work for a new greenfield substation project where they put this into practice. Jeremy is the civil design lead on a multidisciplinary team that focuses on practical, early design decisions to reduce construction costs while maintaining performance and safety requirements for a new station adjacent to an existing facility. The civil design scope included grading and stormwater management for the new station with careful integration into existing site conditions and infrastructure. The team optimized the grading approach to balance excavation and fill volumes and ensure effective drainage and spill containment. To support better planning during construction, they also provided preliminary soil excavation and fill estimates early in the design phase, enabling more accurate soil management and disposal more accurately and obtain more reliable construction pricing sooner. Jeremy shared, "Exploring design optimizations early can lead to major efficiencies during construction. Even small steps—like estimating soil volumes early—can help clients save time and cost without affecting project schedules." Our team’s proactive approach to design and collaboration across transmission and distribution disciplines reduces risk, improves planning, and delivers meaningful value for clients before construction even begins. #HighVoltage #Transmission #GridModernization #LeadingWithScience

Happy International Data Center Day! At DCD Connect NYC, one idea kept surfacing: we need to have more honest conversations about digital infrastructure. Data centers support much of what we rely on daily. Demand is real and growing rapidly — that part isn’t up for debate. What is worth discussing is how we meet that need responsibly. What I found encouraging is the shift toward more proactive engagement with communities, greater transparency, and a willingness to address concerns directly — leaning into difficult conversations early. If we acknowledge the scale and necessity of this infrastructure, we also have to commit to delivering it in a way that is sustainable and thoughtful. That starts with listening, sharing facts, and building trust early and consistently. As a data center market leader and board member of my local 7x24 Exchange chapter, I’m focused on advancing community engagement, education, and open dialogue.
