💡"There is always room to innovate and improve — however small, however big — both in the private and public sector." As part of our course Social Intrapreneurship for Innovation in Health, we recently hosted an inspiring webinar with Ashoka Fellow Umra Omar, Founder of Safari Doctors in Kenya, social enterprise that delivers healthcare to underserved communities through a dedicated team of professionals and innovators. Over 20,000 patients have benefited from the project across more than 40 villages. During the session, Umra emphasized the importance of centering the voices of the communities you aim to serve, ensuring they are active participants in their own care. She also highlighted the need for collaboration across sectors to create innovative solutions in healthcare. Umra reminds us that we must continuously nurture a spirit of innovation and seek out opportunities to drive impact, no matter where we sit.

Lenore is driving a huge parental cultural shift in the United States, away from fear and over-protection and towards trust and reasonable independence for children. She coined the phrase “Free-Range Kids” and now leads a movement of parents, teachers, lawmakers and healthcare professionals who are making it easy, normal, and legal to give kids back some independence.
