Have you spotted these bins on Sentosa? Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) is proud to be the first in Singapore to deploy the Muuse Smart Return Bin – an innovative solution supporting our circular economy efforts and reducing single-use disposables across the island. ♻️ The process is simple: Scan, Drop, and Done. 1. Scan the QR code to identify your container. 2. Drop your used container into the bin. 3. Done! You've just contributed to a cleaner, greener Sentosa! By making returns this easy, we hope to empower our guests to make conscious, sustainable choices – one container at a time. 100 percent powered by solar energy, these innovative smart bins use a QR code system to ensure only Muuse reusable food containers are deposited, encouraging responsible recycling amongst our guests on the island. In its first month alone, this initiative has contributed to saving 391 kgCO2e in carbon footprint! This pilot project is part of Sentosa's broader push to minimise single-use disposables, as outlined in our Disposables Policy and Playbook introduced in 2023. The Smart Return Bin initiative at Food Kiosk at Central Beach Bazaar is led by Mount Faber Leisure Group (MFLG), in partnership with Muuse, as a part of their ongoing sustainability journey. Since its deployment, the container return rate has improved from 79 per cent to 91 per cent, while the contamination rate has drastically decreased from 90 per cent to just 5 per cent. This marks a significant improvement from the previous manual return system, where the containers were often mixed with other waste. When you next visit the island, be sure to give the Smart Return Bin a try using the reusable Muuse container from participating stalls. 🏌️♂️Meet Skye Neal, a former competitive golfer turned dedicated coach who plays a pivotal role at Sentosa Golf Club. With a remarkable career playing against prominent professionals like Robert Rock, Skye has since channelled his passion into nurturing the next generation of golfers in Singapore. After earning the distinction of UK's number one training professional from the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) in 2000, Skye made the strategic decision to transition into full-time coaching in 2002, completing four summer seasons (March - October) in Austria before moving to Singapore in November 2005. This led him to Singapore, where he initially led the Leadbetter Golf Academy at Sentosa before joining Sentosa Golf Club's academy. As the Head Professional at Sentosa for over 18 years, he has mentored numerous talents, including professional player, Amanda Tan, and Asian Tour winner, Chris Rodgers. But his dedication doesn’t stop at the top: Skye finds just as much joy in helping beginners master their fundamentals and experience the thrill of their very first birdie. Were you one of the 826 participants who joined us bright and early for Ridge to Reef: The Great Sentosa Plog? Thank you making history by setting a new Singapore Book of Records for the largest mass plogging activation together with us! 🌿👟 Organised by Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC), this event brought together SDC staff, island partners, Sentosa Cove residents, and members of the public. Through jogging and litter-picking across Sentosa's scenic routes, our community came together to champion both environmental stewardship and wellness. Supported by the Public Hygiene Council and Mount Faber Leisure Group, this event was flagged off by Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, Grace Fu, from Wings of Time Fireworks Symphony. This event was held in conjunction with the Keep Singapore Clean 2025 campaign launch, marking the beginning of a month-long SG60 national cleanup initiative celebrating Singapore's six decades of public hygiene excellence. As a PHC Corporate Action Network partner since 2014, SDC has led island-wide clean-up efforts, and we are taking it further by empowering our community and guests to play an active role in protecting Sentosa’s environment. After all, keeping Sentosa and our environment clean is a shared responsibility. In support of bi-monthly SG Clean Days under the Keep Singapore Clean campaign, SDC will be expanding our outreach by partnering with Singapore Polytechnic to conduct regular beach clean-ups, led by student leaders, and supported by our SELF 365 kiosks stationed across Sentosa. 💚 This initiative is also open to the public!
