📻 For many of us, BFM 89.9 - The Business Station has always been the go to radio station during our daily morning drive or commute to work. This week we are positively enthusiastic to tune in to 89.9 as our CEO, YM Raja Datin Paduka Teh Maimunah was on air for The Breakfast Grille, interviewed by Shou Ning Wong. In a landscape teeming with over 30 incumbent banks and 5 digital banks, AEON Bank is charting a distinct path as Malaysia’s first Islamic digital bank. Built by a strong foundation of 4 decades of growth in Malaysia and more than 200 years of history and evolution in Japan since the Edo era, today AEON Group continues to provide consumers with diversified retail convenience and financial solutions. Anchored on this strength and legacy of sustainable business evolution, AEON Bank is strategically embedded within the wider AEON ecosystem. Since the launch in May 2024, the Bank has focused on building an active user base - 65% activity rate, more than double the industry average - beyond just chasing short-term deposit growth. Through integration with the AEON Loyalty Programme, AEON Bank is rewarding customers with value-added benefits that reflect the modern lifestyle centered on digital transactions and online purchases — drawing a younger demographic, 60% of whom are new acquisition to the AEON ecosystem. Beyond just Personal Banking savings account, engagement is also aggresively driven by daily transactions and loyalty rewards. Looking ahead, Raja Teh Maimunah highlighted the upcoming introduction of AEON Bank Biz that will offer Business Banking financial facilities to local MSME entrepreneurs, using tech-driven credit assessments without compromising underwriting standards, as well as strategic partnership with AEON retails's network of merchants, thus closing the funding gap of RM90 billion in Malaysia. She also addressed the challenges when it comes to digital inclusion, particularly the digital divide and device limitations among the underserved and lower income communities. With a sustainable growth strategy in place, the team at AEON Bank is laying the foundations for long term profitability. Being part of the larger banking symbiosis, the goal isn’t to compete directly with the incumbents, but to offer a differentiated, future-ready, safe and convenient digital touch points where banking, retail and loyalty are seamlessly integrated, add value and complement the lifestyle of a wider demographic of Malaysian consumers. Special thanks to BFM's Malek Ali, Shou Ning Wong, Jake Lim and Natalie Tan Shern Ying 🎧 Missed the on air interview on BFM x The Breakfast Grille? Shaping the future of finance, the Asian Banking, Finance and Insurance Summit 2025, held on 15 April 2025 at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre, ignited crucial conversations among Malaysia's leading financial minds on the transformative power of digital banking. Aizuddin Danian, our Chief Personal Banking Officer (CPBO) at AEON Bank, was invited to speak as a panellist in a session moderated by Ravi Kittane, Partner at Ernst & Young Consulting Sdn. Bhd., alongside fellow leaders from Malaysia’s digital banking sector, including Pei Si Lai, CEO and Managing Director of GXBank; Fozia A., CEO of Boost Bank; and Melvin Ooi, CEO of Ryt Bank. The first panel discussion focused on how financial institutions are adapting their models to stay competitive in a digital-first era, and delved into how digital financial services are driving financial inclusion, improving customer experiences, and enhancing operational efficiency. Our CPBO also spoke on the need to reimagine digital banking through empathy, simplicity, and cultural relevance. He highlighted that true innovation begins with understanding customers’ real-world needs, especially for the tech savvy millennials and Gen Z, who expect banking experiences to be mobile-first, seamless, and intuitive. He called for a shift in mindset, where banking becomes an invisible yet trusted part of daily life. Aizuddin also pointed to the untapped potential of Islamic digital finance, viewing low awareness as an opportunity to educate and build trust. He highlighted AEON Bank’s efforts to deliver regionally connected, Shariah-compliant solutions such as asset financing with built-in protection, that reflect Malaysian values while demonstrating that ethical finance can be both competitive and future-ready. The other panellists further echoed the importance of customer-focused innovation, highlighting strategies for sustainable growth, the impact of embedded finance in supporting underserved communities and the use of AI to drive agility and hyper-personalised banking experiences. The summit was also attended by the Ibrahim Mohd Hasan, Chief Shariah Officer of AEON Bank; Faruq Arif Tajul Ariffin, Chief Internal Auditor; and the teams from Shariah, Compliance and Internal Audit. As the conversation unfolded, it became evident that digital banks in Malaysia are redefining what it means to serve customers in a digital age. With its people-first philosophy and commitment to ethical innovation, AEON Bank aims to lead the way towards a more inclusive and purpose-driven future for digital finance.

  • 'Voices of Possibilities' – a brand new employee engagement series organised by AEON Bank’s Human Resource made its debut on 11 April 2025 featuring Freda Liu, BFM radio former presenter, speaker, author and award-winning broadcast journalist. The series is designed to spotlight stories of transformation, resilience, and inspiration from remarkable individuals across industries. And Freda was the perfect voice to launch this journey. During her session, “Resilience in the Making,” Freda drew from her personal and professional experiences, sharing actionable strategies that can be practiced to build resilience, navigate adversity and cultivate a growth mindset. Her session was a good reminder for all of us that resilience isn’t just about bouncing back quickly, but it’s about growing forward with mindfulness and clarity. She also spoke about the power of emotional agility – the ability to adapt our emotional responses to life’s challenges and how setbacks, while inevitable, are also invaluable teachers. By reframing obstacles as opportunities for growth, and cultivating habits that support self-awareness and persistence, we can strengthen our inner foundation and thrive through uncertainty. Thank you, Freda Liu, for such a thought-provoking and uplifting session that has set the tone for what Voices of Possibilities is all about. As we continue to grow as Malaysia’s first Islamic digital bank, this series reflects AEON Bank’s commitment to nurture a culture of continuous learning, personal growth and resilience — one meaningful conversation at a time.

Embracing the blessed month of Ramadan and anchored on the aspiration of mindful intentions, empathy and compassion, AEON Bank nurtures the Ramadan Syawal 2025 core theme of "Niat di Hati, Semua Jadi" 🩷 - reinforcing the belief that a good intention, big or small, if done right, has the power to create a ripple effect of positive impact. Our first ever Ramadan Syawal special video was inspired by the 'Niat' (intention) of ‘Keluarga Azam’ (Azam Family) to do good, extend a helping hand to their loved ones, and their 'Azam' (resolution or commitment) to find ways of being helpful and bring joy to the community around them. 🌸 'Salam Prihatin' Ramadan CSR 2025, Engaging 400 Beneficiaries from Perumahan Pantai Permai 🌸 This Ramadan, we build on the positive momentum of AEON Bank’s Ramadan CSR initiatives that have been rolled out since 2023. This year, we continue on our journey of giving back through 'Salam Prihatin' — a community impact initiative that engaged the B40 families of Perumahan Pantai Permai, organised in collaboration with AEON CO. (M) BHD., AEON Taman Maluri, and a local NGO - Pertubuhan Kebajikan Masyarakat Penyayang (PERKEMP) Lembah Pantai. Over 400 total beneficiaries from 100 families including single mothers were allocated RM300 per family to purchase their Ramadan and Syawal groceries, based on the needs of their respective households. By giving the beneficiaries the freedom and autonomy to choose what they need the most, we hope to spark some joy, while making them feel seen, valued and supported. On 11 March 2025, the beneficiaries were transported by chartered buses to AEON Mall Taman Maluri and upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed and ushered to the AEON Supermarket. We also mobilised our employees as volunteers to assist the beneficiaries on that day, including senior citizens, while providing guidance to ensure that their RM300 allocations were used efficiently, hence staying true to the 'Niat' of financial mindfulness and purposeful spending. It is more than just sponsoring their groceries, this initiative is also about empathy, togetherness and the 'Niat' to perform good deeds and 'amal'. The beneficiaries were paired with our volunteers which helped in making the grocery shopping experience smoother and more meaningful for the beneficiaries that were buying essential items for their multigenerational families. It also reflects our ongoing commitment towards building a more financially mindful and compassionate society - because here at AEON Bank, we believe that giving back isn’t just a corporate responsibility, it’s a reflection of the positive values that we hold close to our hearts. 💕 Click on the link to read more about AEON Bank's Ramadan and Syawal initiatives and campaign : https://lnkd.in/gvWGVYCF #AEONBank #SalamPrihatin #CSR #RamadanCSR #Ramadan2025 #FinanciallyMindful #PurposefulSpending #KitaBantuKita #islamicdigitalbank
