I'm trying to identify a show that was on HBO before (it wasn’t Max). It was a poorly animated comedic series about birds who I believe were roommates, maybe three boys and one girl.

I thought the guy who voices Bob from Bob's Burgers voiced one of the birds, but it’s not showing up anywhere. I think it only ran for one season as well.

How do you define "poorly animated" - what was problematic about the animation? Are the birds actually birds or are they anthropomorphized (part human/part bird)? Are you sure it was on HBO? Are you sure the main characters were male? There's a Netflix animated show that's currently on Max that fits your description other than these aspects. Please include more details that you remember and consider listing any shows you know that it's not, so we can eliminate them. Commented May 14, 2025 at 16:07

There's a show currently on Max that was originally on Netflix called Tuca & Bertie and there's a third bird, Bertie's boyfriend Speckle. The images make it look like there's a lot of blue but, while they have bird heads, they have human bodies. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuca_%26_Bertie Since it doesn't really match that closely, I'm not sure it's worth an answer. • @Catija - based on more info from OP yours sounds closer than mine. Go for it. Commented May 14, 2025 at 23:39

Armed with 'poorly' animated, HBO before Max, and roommates, perhaps meaning adult-style humor, I could not find very much apart from this:

animals

  • So the animation is of a style, whether considered poorly or not, is entirely subjective; technically its as valid as any other.
  • Ran on HBO from 2016-2018. Max started broadcasting in 2020.
  • Note that whilst it says it ran for 3 seasons, only the first season was animated, subsequent seasons introduced live-action human characters.
  • The voice actor from Bob's Burgers does not seem to be involved.
  • As its title implies, its not just birds, a lot of other animals are involved as well, some episodes focus on particular ones.

Not a lot to go on and not a lot of valid returns either.

Few more screen caps:

Considered significant enough to have cameos too.
