Graham McCorkill shared thisGame Changer... It's so good when a wider community comes together, gets involved and provides a plethora of amazing in-person events over one jam-packed week to share the latest... Which events are you attending?Graham McCorkill shared thisNot all AI events are built the same. Some are about theory. Some are about hype. But AI Week Melbourne is much more focused on the people actually experimenting, building and figuring this technology out in real time. For one week, Melbourne will become the epicentre of AI as we host everything from interactive exhibitions and robotics meetups through to hands-on workshops and an AI energy hackathon where participants manage both smart homes and an entire city grid. There are events for engineers and technical builders as well as for curious people who just want to better understand where AI is heading and to meet others exploring the space. We're excited to be teaming up with Web Directions and MLAI to bring you a packed week designed to bring AI enthusiasts together to share ideas, test things, and build really interesting projects together. Check out what’s happening throughout the week 👉 https://aiweek.com.au/ Graham McCorkill + John Allsopp + Imtiaz Aziz + Caitlin Shepherd.

Graham McCorkill shared thisWow... This is fascinating and quite unexpected!Graham McCorkill shared thisA biochemist at the University of Minnesota did something fascinating: she collected two types of tears from the same people - tears from chopping onions versus tears from genuine emotional pain. When she analyzed them in the lab, the results completely changed how we understand crying. The onion tears were 98% water, basically just salt water. But the emotional tears? They contained stress hormones, pain-killing endorphins, and toxic compounds that the body was literally expelling. This proves that crying isn't weakness, manipulation, or losing control. It's your body's built-in detoxification system. When you cry from emotional pain, you're not just releasing feelings - you're physically removing stress hormones and toxins from your bloodstream through your tear ducts. Your body has evolved this mechanism specifically to help you process and release biochemical stress. So when someone tells you to stop crying or that it's pointless, remember this study. Every emotional tear contains actual stress hormones that your body is getting rid of. When you suppress crying, you're literally keeping those toxic compounds inside your system. The science is clear: crying is not a character flaw, it's a biological necessity. Your tears are doing real biochemical work to help your body recover from emotional stress. https://lnkd.in/d_iX7GC2

Graham McCorkill shared thisGreat perspectiveGraham McCorkill shared thisJensen Huang just told you how to make money out of AI. And essentially, you're doing it all backwards. Check out his (excellent) comments: ___ "If an AI scientist warns people that AI is going to permeate across radiology and radiologists are going to get wiped out, it might seem helpful but it's hurtful. If we convince everybody not to be radiologists and we now need radiologists, that actually is hurtful to society. It is hurtful to convince all the young college graduates not to study software engineering because we are going to need more software engineers than ever. That's hurtful. Scaring people with nonsensical things, which are not going to happen, that this is an existential threat, there's a 20% chance that is is existential, that's ridiculous. That it's going to wipe out 50% of college level jobs. That is it going to completely destroy democracy. These kinds of comments are not helpful. They are made by...CEOS. And you become a CEO, maybe you adopt a God complex and somehow you know everything." ___ The moral of the story is this: Instead of looking for productive stuff you can do with the technology, you should be looking for damage the technology is causing that you can fix. The opportunities in the latter category dwarf the former 10 to 1. If you really want to understand the phenomenon strategically, the best way to think of it is as some kind of natural disaster, that sweeps through a city leaving havoc in its wake. The havoc of course is not really an opportunity - responding to the havoc is. Being the guy with the bulldozer. The shelter. The medical supplies. As things stand, and perhaps for the foreseeable future, AI will do “more harm than good”. - bad advice will be given - Businesses will panic - Skills shortages will be experienced - Unemployment will increase - Prices will be squeezed - People will spend more time online - Etc …and all of this will need some sort of remedy. YOU can be that remedy- and you can “thank” AI for throwing a rock into the pond, and creating some ripples you can respond to. --- for more strategic insight on this age we're living it, subscribe here: https://lnkd.in/e-N6DZDk

Graham McCorkill shared thisAI-native isn't a feature. It's an organisational architecture decision. One of the privileges I have at Stone & Chalk is sitting in on the many programs and events that happen here in the Melbourne Hub. Tonight, the Blackbird Giants Program kicked off their Victorian cohort 10 with a brilliant evening, starting with a fireside style chat with Didier Elzinga, founder of Culture Amp. Among the super relevant info Didier shared was one element that really resonated... AI-native isn't a feature. It's an organisational architecture decision. We know that most companies are trying to add AI to existing workflows. But, that's not the same thing, and the gap is going to widen faster than most people expect. Didier put it cleanly: it is nearly impossible for an incumbent to become AI-native. They can't bear the pain of systems that break and learn and fail in front of customers. Young startups can! Right now, while a startup is small, that tolerance for imperfection is their structural advantage. However, it's important to understand that being AI-native isn't just using Claude or GPT on your laptop. The key distinction Didier made is this... AI-NATIVE SYSTEMS LEARN! They bootstrap themselves. Every interaction improves the next one. If your AI workflow produces the same quality output on day 300 as it did on day 1, you've built an AI-assisted workflow, not an AI-native company. This is what really challenged my thinking... The architecture Didier's experimenting with looks like this: An orchestrator agent ("Auto") that routes tasks to domain-specific "minds" (product, design, marketing etc.)... A librarian agent that continuously improves the agents themselves, and a shared multiplayer layer so the whole team sees every interaction — not just the code commits. Every time the system does something, it writes a learning. Every time he corrects it, it updates. The system accretes context over time in a way no human team can match at scale. The real gold here is that in 12 months, the models (and your product/business) will be dramatically better and more competitive. I'm still trying to process it all! Huge congrats to Josephine Tay for her leadership of the Giants Program and the elegant moderation during this awesome fireside chat with Didier. Great to catch up with Max Meyer, Alex Shiell, Grant Gwynne and Shan Yang... Thanks Nicholas Jerrat for the introduction!

Thank you Sherin Breuer and StartSpace for organising this and having me pitch. Deep Space AI team meet today in Melbourne. We’re stepping into Q1 ‘26 with one goal in mind: give mid tier commercial ANZ builders a platform that actually reduces project chaos. When we sit with users, the feedback stays consistent. “It makes our life easier.” Ricky keeps driving the same principle across every release. If it isn’t easy to use, builders won’t adopt it. And that’s why more than 70% of teams we onboard tell us they switched because their old tools were either incomplete or too complex to run day to day. Deep Space fixes that with one connected platform that keeps projects moving without the clutter. In the frame Michael Clothier & Luke Johnson

Procuring a new health tech solution? Your supplier assessment needs to follow the data, not just the contract. An organisation procures a virtual care solution — telehealth consultations and remote patient monitoring bundled under one provider. Sounds straightforward. But under the hood, the solution involves a third-party video platform for consultations, IoT devices from a separate manufacturer collecting patient vitals at home, a mobile app syncing readings to the cloud, and a SaaS platform built by yet another vendor tying it all together in a clinician dashboard. Patient health information flows from living rooms, through Bluetooth-connected devices, into a mobile app, up to a cloud platform, across to a video consultation, and into clinical records — touching four or five separate entities along the way. The procurement team runs a supplier assessment on the contracted provider. Tick. But who assessed the video platform handling live clinical conversations? Who looked at the device manufacturer's firmware and data transmission security? Who evaluated the SaaS platform where the health data actually lives? Who mapped the API feeds to downstream integration partners? The contract is with one provider. The risk extends across the entire ecosystem. When you're dealing with solutions that involve multiple vendors in the data supply chain, your assessment approach needs to reflect that. At a minimum: 🔹 Supplier assessment of your contracted party — including how they govern their own sub-processors 🔹 Information security risk assessment of the end-to-end solution architecture, not just one component 🔹 Privacy impact assessment covering the full data lifecycle across all entities Your contracted provider should be able to demonstrate they've assessed and manage downstream risks. If they can't articulate how their sub-processors handle your data — that's your finding right there. The contract is with one entity. The risk assessment follows the data. If you're navigating these kinds of multi-vendor assessments, have a look at what we're building at Pragmatix: https://lnkd.in/gDAGn9mn

Take the SME Association of Australia's directory, for example. With over 200,000 Australian businesses already listed, it offers more than visibility. It signals credibility to customers and search engines alike, boosting your reputation without a big advertising budget. Sarah, a local painting service owner in Western Australia, saw her website traffic double within three months of joining. More importantly, many enquiries mentioned her association listing as the reason they chose her. This shows that a directory listing isn't just about being found; it's about being trusted. When potential customers see your business in a respected directory, they feel more confident reaching out. So, how are you using your business listing to build trust and grow your network? If you haven't made the most of this simple, cost-effective tool, now's the time to start. Join the SME Association of Australia's directory today and turn your listing into one of your strongest trust signals. Join Here https://lnkd.in/gG-9Ek5z #businessdirectory
