Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) delivered 10,542 third-generation ES8 SUVs in September, topping 10,000 for a third consecutive month as the model remained a key sales driver for the Chinese electric vehicle maker.
Nio announced the figure on Weibo on Thursday. ES8 September deliveries fell 4.17% from August's 11,001 vehicles, a figure revised based on CPCA data.
ES8 deliveries rose 274.89% from a year earlier. Last September marked a model changeover, with deliveries of the third-generation ES8 starting late in the month and total ES8 deliveries reaching 2,812.
In the first 9 months of this year, ES8 deliveries totaled 110,490, up 1,456.64% year-on-year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
The ES8 recorded 31,831 deliveries in the third quarter, down 4.91% from the second quarter and accounting for 29.16% of Nio Inc's 109,178 deliveries during the period.
The Nio brand delivered 21,318 vehicles in September, with the ES8 accounting for 49.45%. Across the company's 3 brands, which delivered a combined 37,408 vehicles, the ES8's share was 28.18%.
In the first 9 months, the ES8 accounted for 60.71% of the Nio brand's deliveries and 36.79% of Nio Inc's total, underscoring the large battery-electric SUV's importance to the company's sales mix.
The historical monthly figures above are based on China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) data compiled by CnEVPost, while the September figure is provisionally based on Nio's announcement.
Model delivery figures disclosed by the company may differ slightly from CPCA data. CnEVPost will update its tables and related statistics after the CPCA releases September figures.
The third-generation ES8 was launched on September 20, 2025, with deliveries beginning the following day. On September 20 this year, the model reached 150,000 cumulative deliveries on the first anniversary of its launch.
The latest 10,000 deliveries took 30 days, matching the pace of the previous 10,000 and showing that the model continued to maintain a high delivery volume a year after launch.
The addition of a 5-seat version broadened the ES8's potential customer base. Launched on July 9, with deliveries beginning the following day, it expanded the lineup beyond 6- and 7-seat configurations into the large 5-seat SUV market.
At launch, the 5-seat version started at 382,800 yuan ($56,840) including the battery pack, 5.9% below the 3-row version's launch price. Under the BaaS (battery as a service) battery rental program, its starting price was 274,800 yuan.
