Nio delivers 37,408 vehicles in September, meets Q3 guidance

Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) delivered 37,408 vehicles in September, up 7.65% year-on-year and 4.39% from August, helping the company meet its third-quarter delivery guidance.

The Chinese electric vehicle maker announced the figures on Thursday. Third-quarter deliveries totaled 109,178 vehicles, up 25.39% year-on-year and 1.41% from the second quarter.

The quarterly total was within the guidance range of 108,000 to 111,000 vehicles announced on September 1, exceeding the lower end by 1,178 vehicles and falling 1,822 short of the upper end.

By comparison, Nio delivered 107,658 vehicles in the second quarter, below its previous guidance of 110,000 to 115,000.

September deliveries ended 2 consecutive months of month-on-month declines, though year-on-year growth slowed to 7.65% from 14.47% in August, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

The company delivered 300,301 vehicles in the first 9 months of the year, up 49.24% year-on-year. Cumulative deliveries reached 1,297,893 at the end of September.

Performance continued to diverge across its 3 brands. The Nio brand delivered 21,318 vehicles in September, up 55.29% year-on-year and 0.68% from August.

Onvo delivered 8,763 vehicles in September, down 42.52% year-on-year and 0.53% from August, marking its second consecutive month of year-on-year declines.

Firefly delivered 7,327 vehicles in September, up 26.87% year-on-year and 25.21% from August, surpassing its previous monthly record of 7,084 set in December 2025.

Firefly delivered 1,475 more vehicles than in August, accounting for 93.83% of the company's overall increase of 1,572 vehicles and making it the main driver of September's rebound, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

For the third quarter, the Nio brand delivered 62,500 vehicles, up 69.25% year-on-year, while Onvo delivered 27,728, down 26.36%.

Firefly delivered 18,950 vehicles in the third quarter, up 51.76% year-on-year. Growth at the Nio and Firefly brands offset Onvo's decline, lifting the company's quarterly deliveries.

Large battery electric sport utility vehicles (SUVs) remain an important pillar of the Nio brand. The third-generation ES8 reached 150,000 cumulative deliveries on September 20, the first anniversary of its launch.

The flagship ES9 SUV reached 30,000 cumulative deliveries on September 23, just 119 days after deliveries began on May 28.

The ES8 and ES9 together accounted for 17,480 deliveries in August, or 82.55% of the Nio brand's monthly total, underscoring the weight of large battery electric SUVs in its sales mix.

Geely will invest its entire equity interest in Yiyi Power and 640 million yuan in cash in Nio Power, integrating battery swap operations for commercial fleets.
