Overall it seems more or less identical to the performance of the 11 Pro, as in the cooling does work (in GPU bound applications) but it does have major compromises to get that cooling. Price going up was of course inevitable, with the only real difference being an overall slightly cleaner look.
I would say anyone looking for this should probably get the 11 Pro from a reseller instead.

Maybe an article messing with them on certain devices would be pretty cool though.

That's why it's so inefficient in the battery tests co... moreThe Dimensity 9500s in the Poco is a really good chip, but in GPU heavy applications it's peak performance is about what this phone gets sustained. Even though this phone can't sustain 100% in games it does better than any other phone including the OnePlus 15 (but admittedly only just) so that fan is at least doing something even if it's not 100% performance like previous Redmagic's could get, unfortunately the 8 Elite G5 is beyond the current solution.
You also get no 3.5mm on the Poco, which was enough for me personally to get this over either of the other two even if in other ways it's inferior. At least with the 11 Pro I didn't pay £1400 for that particular privilege while being way worse than this in other important ways (looking at you Sony).

I don't get it. It's a difference of 400€ between this slop and the Poco x8 pro max. If PC gaming is so important to you, surely you can get a pretty decent gaming PC for 400€ used that would smoke everything the s8 elite gen 5 could do?

apart from someone who NEEDS t... moreIf we're being fair it does a fair bit better than any other phone in the Wild Life stress, just for some reason does somewhat poorly in the CPU test.
Also as somebody who has the 11 Pro (the previous one) it's honestly just not needing an adapter or specific Type-C headphones to get reliable audio (and even the adapters aren't exactly that reliable from experience). For most cases I actually completely agree the OnePlus 15 is better, the Wild Life performance isn't that far off and the battery is better (also if you mainly want wired for gaming most clip style controllers have a built in 3.5mm).

As you can see if you read the article carefully, the Nubia engineers involved in the cooling system are probably just idiots.
It's like someone who's overweight and switched to a low-calorie diet, then complained it wasn't enough and started eating twice as much. Why add more load? It doesn't solve anything.

I hope with Android 17 update there will be proper desktop mode for this phone.
It is shame that Oems like Oneplus, Oppo, Realme and RedMagic put 16gb ram on their phones but no desktop mode.....
Macbook Neo has shown that mobile chipsets are good enough for lighter desktop usage.

swired, 05 Jun 2026Its called "stress" for a reason smartass. if you dont stress your phone, why would you buy this phone in the first place? why is there a fan? to cool the phone when it is chill or to cool the phone when it is under stress?
if you used your brain (if it's there) for more than 5 seconds you'd have the answer.

The presence of fans and liquid cooling is not 100% a gimmick, from the benchmark it is still the fastest phone you can find on the market, the CPU stress test is bad but the GPU is very stable.. When you are gaming, the GPU is the most priority. In 3DMark it outperforms the other 8 Elite G5.. you can buy an additional cooler for better results (GSMArena should try this) although without this it is already very fast.
But yeah even RedMagic has a hard time cooling this flagship SoC.. it should be better for tablets and laptops. Flagship phone is enough with 7 Gen 4.

So many aaa pc games from 2020 and below and switch games run 720p 30fps even on 8 elite. Ofc you need a strong cooler. But no matter what you do even the d9500 cant play them.
Its like you dont know anything.
