I’d happily buy this phone instead of the OnePlus Nord 5. Even with the weaker processor (the Snapdragon 7 is plenty good enough for me, and actually better in terms of energy efficiency), purely for the sake of the operating system. Since the merger with Oppo, Color OS has become very clunky and overloaded with AI features and customisation restrictions.

But. 256 gigabytes. Are you serious? There isn’t even a 512 GB version. That’s just a joke. My lossless Spotify music alone takes up 100 gigabytes. And photos another 50. By 2026, that’ll be the end of the phone. Literally everything is fine except THAT. And it’s not even clear why. They haven’t even released a flagship where this isn’t an issue.

It’s always like this with Nothing. Take the 3A Pro, for example. Everything’s great. But the memory’s slow.

And even their flagship, the Nothing Phone 3. Everything’s brilliant, but even after a while of OS tweaks, Google Pay might not work. But that’s a BASIC THING that should be there by default everywhere.

They always make a great phone, but one detail ruins the eberything.

I have small hands. 4a is such a bulky device to use when compared to the pro version. None of the reviewers seem to place absolutely no value on a midranger being relatively thin, but at the same time they drool over iPhone Air. They don't even seem to mind that the only reason for Pixel 10a having a flat back is that it's fatter than any other device around the usual camera bump.

Capt. Cake, 09 Apr 20263+5yrs software support is what you call abysmal? Who the f*ck uses one phone more than 4yrs? I change it every year.
Doesn't cost me more than $400-$500 for the replacement.

Technology is ever-changing, so it makes no sense to be stuck on the same phone for 5 years in a row.

Although, I get people who don't want to upgrade.
A flagship will be more than sufficient for most people, unless it's from Apple where certain specs are outdated, even on their latest offering.

Go feed your Chinese masters your data. Those higher spec phone for similar price is not for charity or for good of the humanity either.

HyperOS is nowhere near NothingOS in terms of optimization, smoothness or bloat free nature. HyperOS is one great OS which put native Ads and Tracking user from OS itself.

Boring but its not HyperOS at least.
OnePlus Nord6 destroys everything though in this price segment.

What matters to me is quality of updates vs 7 years of green line updates of some prominent brand. Nothing OS is highly optimized compared to big brands OS and I expect software updates continue to be so.

Not saying this is a bad phone, but its essentially just a watered down Phone 3, being sold for $100 cheaper than the Phone 3 goes for. This phone looks good, but it just isn't a great deal, especially considering the abysmal software support.

Why couldn't they simply choose to use a D8400 or D8500?

The Poco X8 Pro Max used a D9500s, which allowed it to utilize a superior ISP (Instrument Spot Injector), resulting in good image output for the image sensor. Therefore, even when prioritizing camera performance, a high-spec SoC makes sense. I could understand if the D8400 had a less powerful ISP than the SD7 series, but its SoC performance is far too low for its price. If this unconventional design is aimed at young people, I can't understand why they would sacrifice gaming performance.
