Ordered mine from Swiftronics, shipped from Ontario, arrived in a week, took an hour to set up, and despite the nastygram from my carrier, seems to work just fine, not that they're in any hurry letting me make calls over the interwebs when their reception craps out. Cheers.

I use an Xperia 5III and it has been as reliable as my old LG. The 1VII has features I use that other phones removed. It isn't available in the U.S. so it's not really an option for me now. I think that the complaints are due to their pricing and marketing. They could have easily included a separate dac, they could have had that Walkman soldering along with that and they could have done that years ago. They could have included better camera sensors. They aren't even manufacturing this thing themselves anymore but the price remains high. Based on my experience, they do tend to last longer than some other phones but the price is absurd but then, so is the prices of almost all mobile phones.

It amuses me there are so many Samsung fanboys on here bashing the phone… My four year old Xperia 1 III is still rock solid after 4 years and battery lasts all day with heavy use. This phone is not natively available in North America sadly but I’ll still buy and import the global model because it’s so much nicer to use than any other phone.

Apparently they aren't even manufacturing their phones any longer. They've outsourced them to another company but still charge far too much. I guess that the solution is to carry a dongle and buy a portable DAP.

I've had cell phones since 1993, including two or three Sony phones. I was an IT guy and I changed devices all the time. The Sony ones used to be great and innovative. I loved my Sony CMD Z1, it had a dialing wheel and a fold down microphone so it could stay compact. Brilliant! Now they are just overpriced smartphones that excel in certain areas, but the rest is not up to par with the competition.

Sony build quality do not buy I've owned 4 Sony in less than 2 years, just the worst phones on the market- period. Check the brands retention rates and why the brand fell off a cliff for yourself

Sony still keeping the 3.5mm jack and microSD slot, this thing is absolutely gold, But there is a bit of a gap in the real life performance of the camera, and it's really sad that it's not officially available in India. With such great features, it's a shame if everyone can't use it, bro.

Anonymous, 23 May 2025Because it makes sense? The sim and SD card slot can be easily opened without the need for a pin. It is a user friendly detail. Sony phones are too expensive for most of us and not available where I live but they have user friendly , other than not having a user replaceable battery, designs that other phones should and once did.

                                  > but for one reason or another Netflix doesn't recognize it as HDR-capable - perhaps it's a matter of the platform whitelisting the Xperia somewhere down the line. It does allow FullHD playback thanks to the Widevine L1 compliance.

Once again, paying money for a service offers you a substantially worse experience than just having a 1080p HDR file on your phone to play it directly. Lmao

ratscore, 23 May 2025For the people complaining about sheet-specs - have you owned or used an Xperia phone at all? ... moreI'm using a 5 III and it doesn't need to be replaced although Google is forcing that as is Sony with no updates but the phone works fine. Just because a newer model with higher specs is released it doesn't make older models unusable.

I own a Sony Xperia V and I can say that it is a very solid phone and will certainly last a very long time.
The side-mounted fingerprint sensor works flawlessly and is extremely comfortable to hold in your hand.
The photography and video recording are of brilliant quality, it has never crashed and I could say that it is a powerful and extremely functional phone.
I used to own a Sony Xperia Premium which still works without any problems and still has the same battery. It's a shame for Sony that they stopped supporting them with software updates.
