Osiris, 13 Feb 2026That is dead broDead would mean not in business anymore.. and last I checked, they are still in business. Sony Mobile doesn't have to make millions, they just have to make some profit to stay afloat. What a ridiculous mentality. If we apply that reasoning to netflix shows - oh wait they already do, and I'm guessing you don't like it when they cancel your favourite shows. Likewise, I don't like it when they cancel my favourite phones :) please refrain from making such comments, you're allowed to dislike the product, but never say it's dead, that's just ridiculous.

YUKI93, 13 Feb 2026I still see those using pre-2020 phones in 2026, with most of them still at Android 12.I would still be using my v60 if it weren't for the last update being buggy + accidentally breaking the display when trying to reglue it(I had dropped it so many times that the glue let go), but ultimately what kills phones is battery. The battery replacement I got for my v60 was a total dud, anything else would've been half the cost of the phone used. I think Xperia is slightly more immune to this because of better power efficiency + more expensive, so the write off threshold is far higher even comparing used pricing. I'm hoping that their choice of stock android will mean the software is more resilient to aging. (I have a 1 VII, so far too early to tell.)

Anonymous, 13 Feb 2026Sony stopped playing the Xperia 5 ball at the wrong time when the Chinese brands are starting ... moreExactly. First was Xiaomi with 14/15/17, and then the OnePlus 13s/13T, followed by Vivo with the X200 Pro mini/X200 FE/X300. And now, even Honor's getting into the bandwagon with the Magic8 Pro Air. Sony totally got the wrong timing to axe the Xperia 5 series.

SD card slot, 3.5mm earphone jack, and no notch/ punch hole display with dual front-facing speakers. These elements make Xperia so unique, and there is no other choice like Xperia in the market.

Anonymous, 10 Feb 2026You realize every silicon board requires what is essentially a city planner but on a micro lev... more'Complexity' is a BS non argument. We know this because no brand had any issue putting in the 3.5mm previously. We've also objectively gained nothing at all since it and the SD card got removed from basically everything. Paying more for a phone is not an excuse to have less features.

Also the fact you go on about 'the sound wasn't good' proves you don't understand why the 3.5mm matters on phones in the first place. It was never about sound quality, because even a so-called audiophile would tell you a bus engine will immediately nuke your sound quality even with a DAP or whatever. The problem it's solving is that Bluetooth still doesn't actually work in the real world, even today. The reason is reliability, which every dongle I've tried also doesn't solve.

Osiris, 12 Feb 2026They aren't top notch anymore, in a few years nobody will know for SonyYeah right, when the fact that other companies are still procuring Sony sensors, even custom one in certain cases from Sony for other smartphone brands, and generated 132 billion yen alone their sensor division from Q3 2025. As long the top 10 best-selling smartphone every year and maker like Apple or Samsung are still using Sony sensors in their mixes (IMX906 in certain market for upcoming A57 or IMX903 inside iPhone 17 Pro Max, Sony is still doing fine ,even it's B2B instead of B2C, akin to what BASF did.

Lord Bennington, 12 Feb 2026Been hearing the same shit since a decade. No amount of Sony bots on this site will change ... moreEven if Sony's hardware like Bravia and Xperia are struggling and Sony is dying accordance to this site since 2010, Sony Q3 Fiscal Year of 2025 is the highest Sony ever recorded in its 80-year history, surpassing during their Walkman and Trinitron era, accumulating at total of US$80.4 billion in revenue and US$10.1 billion in profits in Q3 FY25 thanks to diversifying portfolio strategy of Sony outside Electronics (and outside out PlayStation to give more bigger pictures because I know people always gonna mentioned PS all the time) to imaging and sensor (semiconductor), then Sony Music that gaining more revenue and profits than during Walkman era where music thrived to physical sales, especially after acquisition of Peanuts franchise and Pink Floyd's masters and discography, and Sony Financial and Group that corresponding to their banking and insurance divisions. There are bigger brands that doing worse than Sony if I could say in financial terms. Sure it is not Apple or Samsung numbers but with that statement, Sony is still doing fine.

Cpt.Power, 11 Feb 2026More like cosmetics than areal upgrade. There still some substantial upgrades behind the scenes regardless, the biggest one in a long while, especially when you have already saw the radical changes in Xperia 10 VII compared to 10 VI (Wifi 6e, bigger all rear cameras, new shutter button, 120Hz, BT 5.4, and new redesign) and Sony may have tested Xperia 10 VII radical changes for the upcoming 1 VIII. Especially Sony always changes substantial every 3 generations starting with 1 II, then 1 V. I mean compared to certain brands, Sony Changes is bigger

Sony is like BASF, you've not heard that name in long time but BASF remains the #1 chemical engineering brand in the world because they relied their B2B since 2000. They haven't sold any B2C since 1999 the latest

Make lots of silly shorts on YouTube and tiktok. Make people believe they are the best. Samsung is not the best nor is apple, but they make you believe they are.
