Man i wish they would offer a real mid ranger for the price of the 10. There are plenty of power efficient chips that are way better than SD 6 gen 3, not to mention that both the storage and RAM are small. For 450 euros you expect a bit better specs, not only the headphone jack and sd slot.

I would be more than surprised if telephoto cam gets a new sensor. That would mean overhaul of telescope module which they already did on 1VI a year ago."

As I already stated many times here in this article threads', Sony's Xperia VIII cameras upgrade is following the suits of Apple iPhone (17) Pro series. Telephoto sensor, lens, and optics are definitely getting brand-new one as it is the last weak point of Xperia cameras that needed to be upgraded, and Apple already upgraded the telephoto lens inside 17 Pro series, so it is inevitable Sony will follow suit. Sony already acknowledged the telephoto lens is getting the heat of criticism that it is no longer avoidable. Main camera is possible getting one as the current Exmor T is already used for 3 generations. What the sensors will be, it is still a mystery until later on. Selfie camera is the one I still doubt getting one as 12 MP 1/2.9" serving Xperia well since 1 IV, although I am opened to possible better sensor.

As much I know this is copying Apple steps, Sony at least copied the positive side of Apple upgrading into better specs. I said this because there has been recurring patterns since 2022, where iPhone 14 Pro series got a main 48 MP sensors, the next year 1 V got the main 48 MP Exmor T sensor; then 15 Pro Max got the new periscope, longer range of telephoto, 1 VI got 170mm update telephoto range; 16 Pro got the 48 MP ultrawide sensor update, subsequently 1 VII got the 48 MP 1/1.56" UW sensor.

Cpt.Power, 12 Feb 2026Strange i did not seen them. And sony design remained same for many years. Most of the Sony Xperia these times upgrades are behind the scenes or incremental, just like Porsche 911 in terms of specs and updates. As long the core design of Xperia is retained (boxy, squarish, and functional). You know what happened the last time Xperia radicalized their design because they listened to the haters by releasing XZ2 and XZ3 due to the bezel complains of XZ1/XZP and too boxy? It was hated by everyone because it doesn't look like Xperia at all, very curvy, too heavy, and it is more like HTC U and whatever they have to say, and it comes from both sides, I kid you not. The situation was very dire that Sony reverted to the boxy design on the modernized version of Xperia Z core design on the OG Xperia 1 and 5. Yes, Xperia Mark 6 and Mark 7 used the universal 19.5:9 aspect ratio instead the signature 21:9 (except 10 VI), however, at least their core design of Xperia distinctive-ly the same Xperia people know, unlike XZ2/3 cases, so the blow is trivial.

eepymeowers, 23 Feb 2026sony does not use Lytia sensors for their phones, Lytia is the branding for Sony camera sensor... moreThe only Lytia sensor Sony used for Xperia is the LYT-800 Lytia, Exmor T sensor for the Xperia flagship series to showcased the dual-layer pixel transistor for its sensor, the others remains the Exmor RS sensor including the new 48 MP Ultrawide 1/1.56" big sensor inside Xperia 1 VII. They will indeed upgraded at least the telephoto lens because thats the last main weak point Sony needed to address after fixing the ultrawide sensor, even if its not Exmor T or Lytia, it will be indeed bigger.

No amoun... moreEven if Sony Xperia themselves aren't doing well, your earlier comment were implying the entire Sony is in trouble, which is just farther from the truth, when last Financial Year Sony set the best profit record of its company 80-year history, thanks to PlayStation, semiconductor camera sensor, Sony music, mirrorless camera, and partially their banking and financial industry division. But even then, most of profitable divisions of Sony relied on Xperia mostly for its telecommunications from Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets they were bound in contract with Qualcomm until at least 2028, and to test Sony technology from smaller one to foolproof into the bigger one. Without Xperia, Sony bleeds more money because they need to cash out more for 3rd parties to test camera sensor, telecommunication tech, and others, which not ideal at all.
